Update I was denied becaue Citi couldn't verify some of my information. What exactly does that mean? How would I contact them and is it worth it since I've take the Discover offer?
There should be a number you can call. When you call in, they'll look your application up and then probably want to text you a code to confirm you are you... it is fairly common these days and the call lasts less than 5 minutes.
If they already did a hard pull and just need to verify your identity, then go for it... you haven't anything to lose and I suspect you're approved because they wouldn't be trying to verify someone that they were going to deny.
if they couldn't "verify" because you had a credit report frozen and they haven't done the hard pull, then I would probably just declare victory with Discover and move on.
good luck!
I saw that they requested my report along with Discover. I haven't received the letter in the mail but did get a pdf letter in an email. There was no number and said to direct amy questions to the return address. Is that the usual? Would the physical letter have the phone number?

I would think the pdf is a duplicate of what they emailed. You can try calling the 800 number for customer service on the website and there should be someone that can look up your application. I found this on their website:
To check the status of your application for a checking account, savings account, Certificate of Deposit, Checking Plus®(variable rate) account or Personal Loan, call 1-800-745-1534 and have the reference number of your application available—it's in the email you received after applying.
You can check the status of your application for a Home Equity Line of Credit or Fixed Rate Home Equity Loan online or by calling at 1-866-252-0118.
Just called and had the most frustrating conversation. They can't verify some information but can't tell me what it is because they have to use public records. Honestly it's turned me off from the card.

I'm very sorry! I have not experienced that so figured it be more straightforward!
Appreciate the help. It's confusing mostly on top of frustrating. You can pull my credit report but can't verify, apparently me, and having me on the phone isn't enough. How can public records be the only way of verifying someone. That's just weird to me lol.

Financial institutions have to comply with the Patriot Act and KYC regulations. So, they'll use a variety of methods to verify you are who you are. Since fraud is pretty rampant, especially with identity theft instances, they need to make sure an account is properly opened once all verification checks have been performed. Often times, if they are using public records, only the individual will know (or hopefully remember) the answers to any questions that derive from those records. A credit report might be one method, but if there is a data mismatch somewhere, then alternate methods may need to be used.
When you applied, did you do so through a VPN, a mobile device, or...?
A mobile device which is how I've applied for all my cards. I understand why they have this policy in place, the logic of me not being able to verify myself is what was frustrating. The lady told me to wait two months and reapply but I'm curious what would be different then.

So sorry for your experience.
Have you tried to apply for an Apple Card? Not sure if you have an Apple device, but you're able to see if you're approved and your credit line with a soft pull. You only get a hard pull if you accept the offer.
Worth a shot!
