I'm helping a friend rebuild her credit. We talked about Cap 1 so she checked out their pre-qualification page and said they suggested the QuickSilver card. I wasn't there but I'm thinking maayyybbbeeee they suggested the QuickSilver One card and she applied for the better version. Her Credit Karma scores are TU - 591 and EQ - 536. I know they are FAKO scores but it gives us an idea where she is at. She tried to get her EX score on Discover's site but received a message that said it couldn't provide her with it at this time. My guess is her real scores are somewhere in the 500s
What I'm wondering is - has anyone been denied for a card after Cap 1's page matched you up with one? And, do you think she can contact them to see if they can use that app for a different card? She'd be happy with a Platinum or worst case, a secured card at this point. Just something to get her going again.
Thanks!
did she get a flat out denial from capitalone or a message saying they need more time processing the application?
with scores like that, i dont see how she got pre qual for both quicksilver and quicksilver one if she accidently chose the quicksilver. like the other person said, platinum would of been my choice
Find out if it is a denial or if it is being processed as asked before....it coud be possible that she has nothing to generate a score for her on her report....If she could be added as an AU on a family members card ( open a long time, high limit, with harly any use) that would start a score generation for her
I expected them to recommend their secured and/or Platinum cards too. My sister has scores in the mid-upper 500s. She was approved for the Quicksilver One card with a $500 limit. I checked with my friend. She said it was a straight out denial. Do you think they could use that app to consider her for a different card? I don't think Cap 1 has an EO number anymore.
When prequal searches dont find cards, they generally recommend or suggest some cards you may want to apply for. That doesnt mean one will be approved. This could be what your friend ran into. No prequals popped up and she received some suggestions. She applied and was denied. Suggestions are less of a certain approval than actual prequals. I would be interested in knowing which card she actually applied for.
Her letter says that she was denied because of income. Do you think she can call to see if they can use that app for their Platinum card or will it have to be another app? If she has to go with a new app, is it okay to do it after this denial or does she have to wait?

"suggested" isn't prequalified
Yep - As a couple others have pointed out the word "Suggested" does not mean prequalifed.
If/when she is qualified it will give you specific information, such as a stated interest rate and not a range.
I'm not 100% sure anymore, but I think Capital One will make your friend wait 30 days before allowing her to be approved for a card.
