Denied for Amex everyday card

Got a pre screened offer with a rsvp code and was declined. Just went on a app spree last night and thought I'd try one more today. Now back to the garden I go. No more apps for another year or more. Maybe looking at a refi on my auto loan in October / November of next year.

Looks like they pulled experian with my score of 688.

Hm...interesting that they denied you with that score, mine was defnitely lower when I got my ED card. Any badies on your report? Any past Amex cards?

No baddies. No past Amex.
Did go on an app spree last night. But the PDF letter said too high of a utilization on my one cap 1 cArd. Recently got a auto loan and also refi a 3k personal loan all within 30 days. So I can see why they declined. I used the prequalify link last night and didn't have and pre qualified offers. Not sure then why I did a hard pull only to know I didn't have any pre quailies.

It was probably the Util- how high is it?

One is at 95% utli pretty much maxed out. And one is at 30%

Well there's your answer.

a maxed out card makes it seem on paper like you might not be able to pay your bills, etc.

Ya I should have known when I didn't have any pre qualifies on the checker. Wasted a hard pull for nothing.

I didnt get any prequals either, but was approved..

Your best bet is to get your util under 30%, wait untl your score updates, and try again.
