Denied for CSP

Been thinking for some time about opening a CSP, and figured now was as good a time as any to give it a go. I hoped my ~9 months of having a Chase Freedom with perfect history would help, but then started reading about Chase's new policy of denying new applications for UR-earning cards (CSP, Ink, etc.) if you've opened 5 or more new credit card accounts within the past two years.

This would have been my sixth, and I have a perfect payment history and a FICO of 750. Gambled and..."your application needs further review". Ok, well I went down this road with the Freedom and just needed to confirm personal information to get that, so was hoping the same would be true here. I spoke to a pleasant analyst at their reconsideration number, who told me that unfortunately my application had already been denied due to "too many new accounts", and there was unfortunately nothing he could do. I offered to shift some CL from my Freedom if that would make a difference, and he said that would not change the reason why they were denying my application at this time.

So, there we go. I may re-app in April since by then two of my accounts would have dropped off Chase's arbitrary "two year" rule, leaving me at four opened in the past two years by then. Sucks, but such is life.

Re: Denied for CSP

Just an FYI, perusing the business credit section will show ink cards are not in this new rule. Heavenly Flower can attest to this (the rapid open/close gal). Smiley Wink

Re: Denied for CSP

Nice to know about the business seperation.

How does that work with earning points with a business card? Can they go on a personal account for redemption? Is cashback the only time its a problem?
