Denied for Chase Freedom. Should I try for Southwest or Marriott Co-Brand Card?

I applied for the Chase Freedom on 3/3 and was denied due to the 5/24 rule. That was my one and only reason for denial.

This resulted in 2 hard inquiries...Equifax and Experian.

My understanding is that co-branded cards such as the Southwest and the Marriott cards are not subject to the 5/24 rule..as of yet.

If I apply for a co-branded card, would it result in additional HPs? Anyone have any experience with a similar situation?

Thanks!

Sorry about the denial.  It will result in addtional hardpull [s]. If I may, what are your scores and how does your credit profile look like?  Do you have any Chase cards now? Chase relies heavily on their internal score for approvals..

My Equifax FICO is 674, Experian is 702. My utilization is around 8% on cards. I have Capital 1 Venture ($4k) and Quicksilver ($3k), Bank of America Travel Rewards ($6k), AMEX ED ($1K), 1 collection ($300 unpaid), 1 student loan, and a car loan. Everything is current. No lates. I have about 20 inq for EQ and 14 for EX.

My mom added me as AU on several accounts in the past 6 months....that's what counted account me mostly.

Ok.. How old is your credit file? When did you apply for the Chase Freedom? Are these all AU accounts?

File is a little over 11 years old. The accounts listed above are my own accounts. The account my mom added me to as AUs are fairly new (all less than a year), but with good payment history and utilization. My AAoA is 8 years, with my student loan being the oldest. My oldest cards are the Cap1's which are almost 5 years old. I applied on 3/3.

Ok.. How many new AU accounts where you added on and does that include any Chase cards?  Also, how many new accounts have you had in the last 2 years excluding AU accounts? I asked these questions because you have 30 days to get a Chase card approved from date of denial.  So based on your responses to these question, you might have an argument here..

So carry on with the answersSmiley Happy..
