So yesterday I app'd for Chase Freedom Flex and was approved (althought not great SL or rate) and then I app'd for the Prime card. Instant denied and I have yet to see a HP show on Experian (don't have access to EQ and TU for another month). Few comments saying Chase won't approve 2 cards on the same day. So out of curiousity I sign into prime and see there is a pre-qual for the Prime card. Fill that out and it's saying I'm pre-qualified today. Should I hit the app button?
If you were declined for it just a day or a few days ago I wouldn't. Remember Chase as a 2 card in 30 day app policy and technically you've reached that even though in was a denial. But I may be wrong on them counting the denial, although it clearly says "only 2 apps in 30 days". They also don't do a 2nd HP when you apply that close normally and just use the first one they pulled. that may be why you see no additional HP.

yeh I don't want to over do it but was really hoping for the Prime card. I figured the pre-qual woulda been a deny if I app'd too many times? Wonder if it would be worth calling them?
For what it's worth, when I applied for a Chase Slate card in February 2020 and then an Amazon Prime card 3 weeks later I got approved for the Slate and then denied for the Prime. When I tried to recon the Prime the rep said usually they like people to wait 3 months between applications and they denied my recon. Of course others have had success getting 2 Chase cards in a 30 day period. If you do decide to apply for it best wishes to you!
Congrats on the preapproval!
Chase will no longer approve 2 applications submitted on the same day. That policy change helped kill what was euphamistically known as the Chase double-dip (supplanted by the Modified double-dip, which is tied to applications submitted 1 day apart).
There are occasional anecdotal reports of someone successfully slipping through the cracks and having 2 cards approved on the same day, invariably with a followup several weeks later that card #2 was unilaterally closed when Chase' left hand figured out what their right hand had done.
As inferred above they will sometimes approve a 2nd card the day after card #1's application and approval so i's up to the OP to decide if they want to risk applying again today and taking another HP instead of waiting 30 days.

Did they hit you with a HP on the recon?
