Long story short, I have experience applying to Capital One. I got denied once and it was an instant decision. I applied sometime again and was approved instantly (I still dont understand how I got approved, but they do have the reputation of being lenient)
I paid all my bills on time and got a CLI. My score went up by 100 points.
I decided to apply for a second card since I passed the pre-approval screening.
I was expecting an instant decision (whether approval or not) but got the 7-10 day message. I assume it is a denial..
But I checked my email and got this:
(Name), we’re in the process of reviewing your application. This is a standard step in our application process and we’ll be in touch shortly with more information. Thanks for choosing Capital One®! |
Is this really standard? Would appreciate if someone could tell me if they experienced something similar.
It could be for verification as the post above said. The same happened to me on my first Cap 1 card back in 2016.
Most likely an approval and verification. Cap1 isnt affraid to do instant denials and tell you so
7-10 day is good news usually.
I got it after being pre-approved at lowest interest rate (13.99%).
I already had 3 other open accounts.
4 days later I called them and I got $30k SL Venture VS.
I think they are just slowing down approvals due to fraud and mistakes.
They did not ask me for any paperwork, paystubs, ID, or anything. Just asked me ID verification questions.

Just to update, I received an email for them requesting documents.
Sounds like an approval is in the making..

What kind of documents are they requesting? Also where there any significant changes from since the last time you app’d? Meaning last time you said you made 50k and this time 100k. Something like that.
