One thing I have noticed Discover does not like is if you have balances on other cards. I have gotten pretty good increases from them when I was only carrying a balance so I had something reporting. I am carrying an interest free balance on a another card for a computer I bought and lately if I ask for an increase from Discover they note I am carrying a balance as a reason for denial. Just to give you a reference point. I have over 75k in available credit. I am carrying a $1700 balance on my USAA card since it was 18 months interest free. That is the only thing I have reporting on my credit report. My scores are now EQ 693 TU 722 EX 745
Aprile... That's a new one for me. I haven't seen carrying a balance as a denial reason before with them or anyone else for that matter. I guess that's something to file in the back of our heads. Seems a bit knitpicky considering $1700 isn't that big of a flag but, I suppose they want it on their card and not USAA. I think there might be something else they're seeing along with the balance when denying the increase. If you don't need the CLI though it shouldn't be much of an issue for the time being. Just keep paying it down and see if things change. The nice thing about Disco is they don't impose mandatory waiting periods like other lenders between increases/denials.

Total credit line (VISA, AMEX, DISCOVER): 2,600 , highest credit line is Amex
Amex had a $1,800 credit line, but yestadey it was increased to $5,300 (new credit line not yet reported): with changes total credit line $6,100
Just be patient. Not all profiles are the same.
DW got a student card with $500 limit, not a single increase (always asked for HP and she canceled the request) until 14th month, an auto-CLI to $3,000, then nothing for 13 months and she got a $1,500 CLI. 6 months later - 3 CLIs now at $12,000.
Use the discover for EVERYTHING. The way to get CLI is by using the dang thing. Max it out multiple times during the month (if viable for you) and pay it down right away after purchases never carrying an excessive daily average balance.
I see everyone has flown off the rails here with spend spend spend and no CLI.
STOP spending so much and pull it back to a ressonable amount in relation to the limit of the card. Let the balance report and autopay each month. You WILL get a CLI and most likely a higher amount if you space it to every other month. I've documented tons of info on Disco in the thread posted in several responses and have gotten plenty of replies from others experiences within the thread. If you want to keep swiping until the numbers rub off and wonder why it's not paying off then keep on doing it. If you want it to grow you're going to have to change your habits with the card.
I have had a Discover since 2009 and had been at $5000 forever. I did a balance transfer with them 8 months ago and have made the payment where it will be paid off before the interest kicks in. I also did some Xmas shopping with it ($300). Then I received an email yestersay of a CLI to $20000. My jaw dropped. I didnt ask for it, but I am not going to turn it down!
When I first opened the card, I was 815/813/811. Things kind of went bad in 2012 and my score dropped to 632 range. I have decided to get back into this MyFico hobby again and get things back to where they once were. I am 679 now accroding to Discover
So based on what I did, you do have to use the card and make more thant the minimum payment
4X CLI is great for Disco. Using it sparingly when you have a lower limit does pay off. Letting statements report does pay off. Making payments does pay off. Holding it under water like a red headed step child doesn't pay off though. Moderation is key when working with them and getting the card to blossom.
For a 20K bump like that you must really be back in their good graces!!!!!!

I have good credit history and I have been approved for 2 credit increases with Amex, but with Discover is not even clear what are there requirements...
There used to be discernible patterns with Discover CLI policies. No more.
Now it's all over the place. Completely random IMHO.
Some people get big CLI's, some tiny, some none.
Some people get frequent CLI's, some infrequent.
Some people get CLI's after using the card heavily, some after putting it in a sock drawer for months on end.
Some people with good scores can't get decent CLI's, while others with not so good scores get huge CLI's.
I've given up trying to assign rhyme or reason to it. I think they have a team of monkeys manning the keyboard.
