Personally a huge fan of the Disco secured card route. I'm gonna give the OP some props for being way ahead of where I was when I was 18 and being here on the forums he is way ahead of the game.
Saying that, trying to boost income numbers to get a higher spending limit, IMO, would be setting yourself up for failure OP. If you start with lets say the Disco secured you would build a relationship and build the value in your credit and as your income grows and your limits grow you'll have the respect behind the numbers...
Again, speaking from personal experience. I would have wanted someone to say that to me when I was 18 lol and they didn't and in a period of 6 months I screwed myself. With that... good luck.
Your in the right place, mate. Cheers!
@Anonymous wrote:You should try the Discover secured card first. It's the best secured card out there. Try their preapproval thing first, though. And instead of having your dad co-sign, which may be difficult and complicated, have your dad add you as an authorized user to his oldest, highest limit card, as long as he uses it very responsibly. As of right now, you have no FICO score, which is why you're struggling to get approved for anything. But if you are added as an AU, you'll get a FICO and have a much easier time getting credit. Although, with that low of an income, it'll be VERY hard to get any kind of unsecured (or maybe even secured) credit until you increase your income. Good luck to you!
