Sorry about that but I'm glad to know they worry about inquires for the last 6 months. I have a Dillards by me and I was wondering if I should apply for their card.
I first apped with them in April on line. Tried to recon no success said I had to many newly opened accounts, utilization too high, and a collection (a $200 medical lab bill from 4/2013).TU score around 660.Wells very hard line. Not flexible for recons. Told them I have a corporate and personal Wells account opened for some years. Said banking relationship was meaningless.
Went in store in June, utilization around 15%, TU score 692, clerk persuaded me to apply, and bam, approved for $1600. Only had about 4-5 TU inquiries because my medical collection is ONLY on my TU, and I always focused on accounts not using TU.
It may be because your score was borderline. If you were over 680 may have gone through. Did you apply in store with a purchase?
I was approved for a Dillard's Amex early October on line. I was approved for 2K. They did pull TU and at the time my score was 703. I have 9 inquiries with TU and over 24 new accounts for the last 6 month. While I knew my score was ok, I wasn't sure if Wells Fargo felt comfortable with all my activity. Btw, my utilization was 6% at that time. Hopefully that gives you some data point. Your score might have been borderline and they just a bunch of other things to justify their decision. I've had that happen many times. Good Luck!
Yes, I applied in store. Spoke with credit and said too many inquiries in last 6 months and I will be receiving a letter. I shop there a lot, but I agree Macy's have more sales and Macy's gave me a 800 SL. Dillard's loss, Macy's gain.
