Re: Disappointing USAA Approval, then immediately cancelled

I feel ya.  What one considers a decent SL is totally relative to where they currently stand,

both in respect to current limits and scores.  Someone with a 610 Fico and one secured card

is going to be *elated* at being thrown 2K.  Someone with a 720 Fico and multiple 5-digit

accounts is going to be left feeling outright insulted at 2K.  Perhaps even moreso if the SL comes

in below all of their other cards.  In 2007 I started closing out cards with less than 5K limits...

There's really not much that i can add to agree with to what's already been said in reply but my take would have been the same decision as yours.

The phone discussion aside i "might" have been ok with the SL if my profile was thin or such (probably not now) but that APR is simply sickening and i don't blame you one iota for pulling the plug on that sort of a card approval immediately either.

I think you should of kept it, since you already took the hit!!!   I'm only a partial member, but got in with them in 2012 before they closed up their acceptance to everyone.  I currently have 3 cards with them -- 1 World MC and 2 Amex rewards  each at 12k a piece and a checking account

(7/23/16) AMEX FICO EX 728, (6/20/16) Discover FICO TU 747, (7/24/16) Barclays FICO 750 (TC Lines $400+K) AAoA= 4.3 yrs

Re: Disappointing USAA Approval, then immediately cancelled

Guys -- Listen, all UW are different... These people have the power to say YES or NO.  MANY are a*holes and will say no for fun -- keep pushing.  I recently was approved for a USAA Cash Rewards at $2,000 as well, 22% APR....Then immediately apped for Rewards Visa, approved $2,000 as well - did this app via phone.  Called in, spoke to a super cool girl in credit who kept putting me on hold to talk to UW...Asked the limit I desired and why, put me on hold for 7 minutes, BOOM:  APPROVED $7,000.

RECON RECON !!!! If a rep is unwillnig hang up on them and call back.  Rine and repeat...it has worked like a charm for me many times.  USAA can be reconned, but you MUST apply via phone for the UW to adjust the CL. My EX score was a 708 on approval FICO 8, but only a 665 FICO 04 model which I THINK USAA uses.

that's a really high apr for credit union card. I'm still trying to figure out a way to join lol. At least u feel satisfied not taking the card. Maybe reapply in 6 months

A minor correction. USAA isn't a credit union, they're a Federal Bank.

Is the window closed for C.C. for some1 with BK reporting and being a partial member?

My fico is 689 as of today.
