My first CLI with Discover was $500 at 60-90 days (can't remember exactly when, but was before the third statement). Since then, I've received an additional two CLIs, one for $1200, then another for $1500. I've been putting almost everything through it and paying in full, so around $2k/month. I've only had the card nine months, so that's pretty generous (started out at $1800, now at $5k).
Also, the last two CLIs were about three weeks apart.

@Anonymous wrote:Don't cut the cut as Discover is a good card. You need to give it some more time and stop requesting the credit line increase like 91 days. That does not work for everyone. If the 91 day request is not working, then change tactic and request it in 120 days or more after heavy usage.
I know seeing CLI for the card here - board can be tempting and encourage you to try, but remember every profile is different. For example, I just started using mine putting at least a $1,000 through it.. Never requested a CLI every 90 days. I gave it a bit of time and when I requested last month, they gave me a $7,000 increase.
So develop a way to use the card, be patient and you will be happy.
Thanks for another view.. I can go with not requesting a CLI for awhile method. Although will not use heavily unless it is on 5 or 10% cats as those of course will be PIF. Sorry just venting and yes every profile is different as we all know. Something they surely don't like in mine. Only issue I have with them is the CSR's are extremely nice, but not empowered beyond what their computer allows them to do unlike say Chase and PenFed, etc..
Do that - See blue. Don't close it and if you don't use it much anyway and want to see it grow, what do you have to lose by hanging on to it? Absolutely nothing.

+1 about CSR's not being empowered. i call them "rah-rah" cheerleaders - friendly but can't do anything to really help you.
I'm guessing that they don't like not being your primary card, since you have quite an impressive array of other cards. I've run into that issue as have others.

+100
Totally agree here YIM!
CC...I know youre frustrated, as I would be too, hence my rants about Sallie Mae, but just hang on to it, and see what happens later down the road, especially after your baddies fall off! ![]()

Heres a thought CC, anytime your frustrated with your Discover, take a moment, hold it up to the sky and picture the poor little "AverageJoe" who always seems to be on the precipe of a Disco approval only to have rug pulled at last moment....."Joint account Sir?"Lol
Sorry if my humors abit off, its Monday ;(
Ughh, that sucks!! Sorry you have to go through that.
CC, I just saw a post from someone who was turned down for a Discover card and he has a 775 FICO score.
If that doesn't show you how weird Discover is, nothing will! Crazy ![]()
And AveragesJoes, take comfort - you are not alone. The 775 FICO person is probably not feeling too great, either.
I have to chime in here because I keep seeing everyone mentioning EQ for CLI's and that's not the case. Discover uses the TU score you see on your online account. If you take a look at the denail letter you'll see the same score/date as your TU they post online.
Additionally put a monthly recurring bill on it and let it auto pay every month. Give it some time and then hit the magic button. Don't get discouraged by them as they're not everyone else when it comes to handing out the CL's you've gotten elsewhere. Once you get the boat unstuck from the muck you'll be flying around the lake speed racer!

Thanks for the positive words. Appreciated, they are just frustrating is all
.. I am a more mellow than I was earlier when I posted this rant. Just had to vent on they are a weird lender overall. I agree 6 months with them isn't a ton, if it was for a decent SL it wouldn't be an issue, but a 1k SL kinda made it an unusable card when I have pretty much every other lender under the sun with 15k+ limits. I will stick it out and swallow my pride/ego/whatever ![]()

DIscover does indeed pull EQ (not TU) for CLI in my case. It was a HP that showed on EQ, and I did receive the small CLI.
Perhaps it is regional as a few others have reported EQ.
