Discover has always been quirky. I don't know Any lender who will bend to your will, or threats on $250k deposit. Not chump change, but small potatoes to them. They might blink on $5 mill.
Theres a lot that goes into a credit profile, and those 61 cards are no incentive for them.
A lot of good info has already been provided. You're just a number, and if relationship benefits them, they'll open purse strings. You may think it's personal, but it's not.
That was an inappropriate remark by CSR, shouldn't have been baited by your threat. Calls are monitored, may, or may not be reprimanded.
Just a quick thought....do you use the Discover card frequently? Discover likes to see use on their cards. If you have 61 cards and the Discover is one of the sock drawered ones, that could be another reason they are not showing you love.

I started running more through my wife's Discover for this very reason. I was using the Citi DC for mor cashback.
@Anonymous That is really impressive. It has to take an incredible amount of organization. If the goal is for the highest possible credit lines I think you could probably hit the same TCL with half the cards with your income and assets focusing on the right FIs. Banks like Discover don't care about a banking relationship but BOA does.

I feel like at that level you're at risk of account closures for too much credit exposure regardless of your income.
Not quite @GatorGuy - not every profile is weighed the same. I mean, for those who are high income earners and have good back-up plans or solid strategies are more outliers than anything. If income and assets can support a profile, it's up to the lender to make sound UW decisions. I have more accounts than the OP + high income, and no mass closures or AA, especially from SYNCB.
Just keep in mind -- anyone, not just those who have a high number of accounts, is a potential risk -- whether the exposure is $25K, $100K, $500K or >$1MM.
Of course I understand every profile is different. I had no idea there were people with 61 credit cards or even like you with more. I still wonder what a FI thinks handing over a new CC to someone with so many and the odds of it being used. Although amazingly the OP says he uses all of his.

Yup, there's plenty of members here on MF (and elsewhere) of all income levels and backgrounds who have close to (or in excess of) that number of cards. I use mine and some are rotated as needed. If one meets the lender's UW criteria, then they will approve the account. Yet, there's some lenders that are more sensitive to overextension or UW models that won't approve due to sufficient exposure (and that's ok), but it hasn't stopped anyone from finding others who will.
I do use both of my Discover cards every month for around $1,000 each, the larger card I ran $7,500 for a month last year.
The exception to the rule is US Bank, they report the last day of the month regardless of my statement closing date, if I have an account that cuts off on the 16th, it is not reported until the end of the month and balance on that end of month date.
I must add to people who say they are poor and not like me. I was very poor in my 20's, I didnt have $5 for gas money so I couldnt even leave the house. I had $1.50 that I used for my weekly food budget. You want to talk about poor? then I did my medical residency which was for two years and I had to work for FREE those two years, it was unpaid to get your license. For food I usually ate from trays in the hospital where patients where to sick to eat so they refused their tray. Look, my point is, If I can better myself then anyone can. I am nothing special here. Now that I am in my 50's things are much much better obviously, but no one helped me, so again, if I can do it anyone can.
I still work most weeks seven days a week even at my age. I am a forensic pathologist and I will always have a job unless pople stop killing each other, I hate to say but I will never be out of work LOL.

Yearly income in the $1M range in the forensic pathology field is quite impressive....
It goes beyond the regular job. I do second opinions for homicide cases both for the prosecution and defense and it pays very very well. Review all files and facts and look for problems or back up the original findings. As I get older I will be doing more of this and not renew my regular contracts once I hit my mid 60's.
Well , I just applied for two new cards one from Citi and one from BBVA, both instant approved, so I am now standing at 63 cards
As the intial topic has been well-covered and the OP has indicated they have been approved for two additional/separate CCs, this thread is now locked and closed to new messages.
