Well, you're almost certainly right that no usage no CLI. However, I didn't post this information for me. I hoped this information would be useful to someone else. In reality, it's hard for any card to beat my Vantage West 5% cash back and my Citi Custom Cash 4% cash back. Discover just isn't even in the running. But, they did update my FICO (as they do once a month) and the score was high. They also gave me some checks and a balance transfer offer. So, I thought I might be due for a bump. Not so.

It appears you have 2 Discover CCs in your signature (unless it's not up-to-date). What are the current limits on each? Which one did you request the CLI? When was the last time it was used?

Not up to date. I closed one because Discover asked me for a 4505-T or some such form? To give all my info over to Equifax. So, the $8,900 got closed, but I still have a $7,000 going.

Current balance: $4.56

Past activity:

4/21/2022 A charge for $4.56 (Groceries)

4/5/2022 Internet Payment $196.02 (Just before statement cut)

3/25/2022 A charge for $195.00 (Plumbing services)

3/20/2022 A charge for $1.02 (Food from the gas station across the street)

3/10/2022 Internet Payment $3,800.79 (came into some cash)

2/19/2022 Internet Payment $78.00 (standard payment on promo balance transfer balance)

1/29/2022 Internet Payment $79.00 (standard payment on promo balance transfer balance)

12/22/2021 Internet Payment $499.64 (extra payment on promo balance transfer balance)

Ok, so it appears you had a BT on the card before you paid it down on 3/10. How long were you carrying the ~$3K balance on the card? And, which one did you keep, Chrome or the other?

I would also recommend updating your signature so that whenever any questions arise or you ask the community for feedback, folks can taylor their responses based on some of the information or data from your signature. In other words, why have a siggy if it's not up-to-date. Otherwise, most folks would assume you currently have 2 Discover cards.

Yeah, they sent me some checks offering a special rate for 15 months at 3.99% or whatever it was. As for updating my siggy, I can't find Utah Community Credit Union card images, and I've got two of those cards, so I just kind of threw in the towel on getting it perfect. Anyway, the card I had it on is the card that gives you 5% back on random categories. But, for some reason, they insist that you "activate" the category preference. I don't know why.

Ok gotcha.

So, it's the Discover It Cash Back. And yes, you have to activate/opt-in for their quarterly 5% c/b categories. That's just just how the rewards program is set up -- very similar to other mainstream rotator cards like USB Cash+, Chase Freedom [OG] and Freedom Flex, for example.

If you aren't going to up your usage with them, it's highly likely they'll just keep denying for that same reason going forward.
