Discover CLI Denial Data Points

Wasn't a big deal for me but I figured some would like to see the data.  I have more than enough credit for my situation but I've been trying to get a minimum of 5k on all revolvers just because I haven't been interested in any new cards lately.  Maybe this will be useful to some. Thanks everyone!

Discover CL = $4000

Reasons for denial:

Low usage on existing line of credit in previous months.

This was surprising since I've max'd out the rewards in the quarterly categories in the past year.

TU = 794

Credit history = 9 years

AAoA = 3.5 years

Inquiries = 0/12, 1/24

Utilization = 1% (one account)

6 revolvers and 1 auto loan

0 missed payments

Re: Discover CLI Denial Data Points

Sorry to hear about your denial Discover has also been stubborn to me for the last two years I've been trying to get a credit limit increase but they just won budge My card was a secured card before they unsecured it and raise it to $1500 and that's where it's been sitting for the last two years

Re: Discover CLI Denial Data Points

Sorry to hear about your denial! Thank you for sharing this info!  This is the same denial reason I keep getting too.

My dilemma is I want to increase my card slightly more from $17,500 to $20K but it's hard to spend enough to get them to increase me again because the most I spend is $1500 a quarter for the 5% categories.

To make matters worse the last few months I've spent less than $1500 due to the chosen categories for quarter 1 being less back than I would get for using a different card in my arsenal. Also I haven't been willing to settle for 1% cash back yet to spend more than the $1500. Hopefully they'll let me increase it soon. Best wishes to you next time you ask!
