First time poster, long time reader !!! This was my 7th month with Discover... starting credit line was $1600 .. i received an auto CLI for $200 a few days ago.. I tried to call today to try to get a larger CLI but was denied and told to call back in 30 days... When I asked the lady about pulling a hard report she said "we don't do that yet"... They are still showing old balances and score from April 1 which was 655.. my current score is 679 TU... why would they say they couldn't do a hard pull??? My current balance with discover is $647 and overall utitlization over all of my cards is 49% .. could this be why??? my EX right now is 639 and EQ is 653 ...
April 1 was only 17 days ago, so I wouldn't describe it as "old balances and score." Also, your utilization is much too high.
Maybe they're giving you a chance to show more history with their card before they can offer more.
Ok.. sorry i finally figured out how to update my signature line with my info...

Overall utilization right now is 48% with most cards at zero except Zgallerie and Helzberg and the discover at 647 ... i guess it was just an unsuccesful attempt at double dipping... also the reason for all of the store cards was to rebuild from a very low score.. i actually took what i could get with as few fees (however i know that all those open store cards are hurting me now...)
Agree with above.

31 inquires ( I KNOW !! i went to buy a car.. huge mistake !!) Use a credit union next time :-)
48% OVERALL UTILIZATION Bring your UTL to under 30% or better yet, under 10%
Wow... Thank you for taking the time to run through that ... YES I am going to ditch the sub primes asap ( by September of this year). I was going to try to get a Barclay's Holland America card (going on a cruise in 8 weeks) or one of their other cards and ditch all of the subprime if I can get approved. I do not know my chances as my inquires are so high from the car dealer pulls !!! The only sub prime I considered keeping was the Merrick Bank with the $1400 limit??? The only reason I haven't ditched the sub primes already is for utilization and my wife ran up the ZGallerie (home furnishing/Comenity) to 80% and Helzberg(Jewelry/Captial One) to 65% utilization taking advantage of 12 month interest free.
I don't know my chances of getting a Barclay Card, but I am thinking of apping in the next couple of days. If I get a $1500 line I am immeditely shutting down the sub primes and leaving everything alone to garden for next 12 months.
I will NEVER let a car dealer pull my credit again. I recently developed a good relationship with my Credit Union and got approved for a 5k signature loan.
After that, I am not going to try for any CLI's on anything until I am above that 690 level. My Experian seems to move very very very slowly ! And as far as I can tell that seems to be the most important one....
No problem...in fact, you could refinance your auto with the credit union down the road when your scores improve.
