Discover CLI HP/SP?

I am currently in underwriting for a mortgage.  I was wanting to ask for a CLI on my Discover card but wanted to make sure it would be a soft pull.  This is what they said on the CLI page.  Does this mean they won't do a hard pull without asking first?  That is how I take it but wanted to check with y'all.  Thanks!

After reviewing your application, we may need to pull a credit bureau report, which may affect your credit score. In these cases, we will proceed with the application only with your consent.

Re: Discover CLI HP/SP?

It’s a SP.

You will receive a separate thing asking for permission if it wants a HP.

SP.  I believe that they will ask your permission before doing a HP.

Going for a mortgage I wouldn't be trying CLI's on anything until after the mortgage closes. That's just me tho.

Re: Discover CLI HP/SP?

As the others have said, it should be SP and they will let you know otherwise. In my opinion, a SP increase should not have any effect on the mortgage situation. All it will do is show a larger limit when it updates on your reports. Nothing negative.

Re: Discover CLI HP/SP?

SP for sure (for me).

I click it all the time and just got a $4k CLI few days ago.

I check my CR all the time so I know there is no HP.

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

As long as it is without a HP, it shoyldn't have any negative effect on your credit profile. In fact, might as well boost your credit worthiness.
