Discover CLI Rejection and a Plot Twist!

So my third statement cut, and I tried for my 3 month CLI via the website.  It was rejected with 3-5 day page to receive letter.  I called the recon backdoor number and spoke with someone.  She explained it was mainly due to derogatory accounts or collections on my credit report, mentioned TU.  I told her they must have an old copy of my CR, because I have nothing derogatory on all my CR's now. She wouldn't budge.  I have a $1,400 SL and have been putting $1,500 - $2,500 through every month and pretty much been PIF.  Also my scores have jumped about 50 points on all my CR's in the past month. Any advice?

Re: Discover CLI Rejection

Just be patient,

you have not built a strong enough relationship with said lendor,

just because the derogatory info has fallen off, does not mean your lender can still not hold you accountable

credit scores and spending habits/patterns are only a small factor

Re: Discover CLI Rejection

Bummer, thanks for the feedback guys.  I'll just ask for CLI once a month and see what happens...

Check your TU FICO 8 score on the Discover website, that seems to be the score they go with. I think you shouldn't sweat it, and don't need to bother calling them. Just go for a CLI now and then, and you'll no doubt get some CLI's.

Just keep trying online, I say once a month or so. They will give you something once they feel you have "proved" yourself.

Re: Discover CLI Rejection

You can occasionally try for cli, but as long as you have derogatory on the report they are using, they will continue to deny your cli request.
Don't worry though, eventually they will let you know that they'll have to hp you in order to give you cli, and when they do and see you have clean report, they will approve cli. Exact same thing happened to me.

Anyway to instigate the HP?

Re: Discover CLI Rejection

You can always ask them when you call in but if they say no to a SP CLI then a HP CLI will probably yield the same results
