Discover CLI denied

Hey guys got the big no from Discover. Letter came in today that stated "INSUFFICIENT EXPERIENCE WITH CURRENT DISCOVER LIMIT"

Wish I knew what that meant as I have used and paid off my card every month and have CC's with higher limits. My current limit is my SL $1250.

Sorry for your denial. How long have you had the card?

Re: Discover CLI denied

That translates to "try again next month".

That's pretty much their boilerplate excuse for not wanting to give you a CLI.    It's hard to tell with them what the best strategy is; some people do well by a period of heavy spend salong with PIF but some do well by sockdrawering the card for a number of months before requesting a CLI.

Re: Discover CLI denied

Discover has always been difficult to really figure out. They've also made some recent changes. How long have you had that card, what kind of spend are you running through it? What's your othercredit history?

Thanks for the info. I will try again next month. I figured that this was just an excuse to not give me a CLI.

I used the card every month. Probably use 50% of the limit monthly. I've been rebuilding for over a year now so their are some baddies that have been paid off on my report. Recently got a CLI with Navy and approved for their More Rewards card.

Re: Discover CLI denied

I had to put a good deal of spend through my 1st Disco and let some balances report before I got my first CLI. Then had no luck for a while, stopped using it a couple of months, used it for a month, and the CLIs were back on. Never big, but 3-4 times got a double-dip. It'll get there. For my 2nd Card (April), they said no CLI until it's 1 year old. Apparently the coronagarbage made them tentative. Try again in 30 days, maybe change your spend/pay patterns and see if that'll shake the lid off the CLI bucket.

Hmm makes me wonder if I have to wait the one year mark. But thank you I will keep trying.
