I requested a CLI on my Discover card that turned 1 yr old this month. Request date was April 1st.
I was denied and the reason was that my experian credit report was locked. I had forgotten that I locked it.
Anyways, on the denial letter it told me I could requst again in 8 days from the date on this letter. Has anyone seen them give a specific time period like this?
I just thought it was odd.
You can request once per week, so the 8th day is the first day of a 'new' week.
I'd be interested to know if the date on the letter matches your request date.
I've received denial letters from them before, but there hasn't been a specific date on the others. Just that one could be requested in the future.
I did something similar when doing a prequal for Discover. I forgot to unlock EX. The denial note said wait 8 days to try again. It appeared on screen. Then I think I got a letter in the mail afterwards that said my credit bureau reports being locked was the reason.
Yes this happened to me years ago on my first Discover that i closed. I lol at it and found it ridiculous. Who knows if i have gotten this excuse recently as i get so many denial letters i just shred sanz looking![]()

This for sure as its their prequal that can only be done 1 a week. You must have your reports unlocked or they cant check if you are qualified.
I hope this is relevant to your query about Discover. I was recently denied a Chase card on 3/18/2020 followed by a recon denial on 3/19/2020, but received a call from Chase stating they can't make a new redetermination until 4/19/2020 after the branch manager at Chase escalated a redetermination request on my behalf. I wonder if Discover and Chase apply timelines for redeterminations so as not to confuse two separate decisions on the same application.
If I got an auto credit increase recentlylike a month ago, can I still manually request an increase a month later?

Yes, I think you can get one 30 days after your last increase.

I thought they do SP for CLI, a locked report only stops HP so current lender SP should still go through?
