Is this a hard pull or a soft pull? I have the discover IT card for 6 months now and been trying to get my CLI but been denied twice. My scores are in the mid 730s-760s. I had the card converted from a student IT to a regular and kept my ultization under 20%. I want to jump in the Discover CLI but only until I have about 2k limit because I figure that's more than enough. Any help? I also have a brother with no credit at all... and was approved $1500 while I had credit, no bad reports, only got $500. I only had a closed account being an authorized user from my father because chase decided to close his account for spending too much. It was only because we bought a new house and renovated it and chase decided to close the account without asking and would not reopen it. Any help?

Discover will tell you that they need to do a hard pull before they do one. The screen you posted is the screen prior to either an instant CLI done with a soft pull or a notice that they need to obtain more info and need your permission to continue which, if granted, will result in a hard pull.
Why your brother got more of a starting limit than you with "no credit" is due to any number of reasons - higher income, better score, no negatives on his report, etc.

Not enough info to even begin there. It's never just about scores or having credit versus no credit. Even one with an established profile can get small initial limits depending on a number of factors. Recent activity could be a concern to a creditor. What did the letter from Discover state? Start there.
Not sure what you mean by the letter Discover state? It's been a while. As for the previous poster, this is his first credit card and given that he just started his first time working at a retail store of minimum wage recently, I'm just not seeing it. But it doesn't really matter, I just wanted more answers to my curiousity since I use my sallie mae more than my discover. It's just in case I need stuff I can get more deal out of when I use discover deals. I know one of the previous denied of my CLI was that I had too much of an balance. Confused me because it looked like $50 out of $500 (10%) seems too high for them? I'll check out in another week or so and try again now that I know its a soft pull. Thanks much appreciated. I'll probably be asking more questions if I have more curiousity in more things credit matters.
What Takeshi was saying
When you're turned down for a CLI by Discover you'll receive a letter via mail stating why the request was denied
It can be a good indication of what areas need to be addressed for better results the next time.
Edit BTW

Ah okay thank! I'll keep that in mind my next CLI request and see how it goes. And ask where I can improve. Thanks. I been lurking this forum too long haha. That's how I came to know some of the credit cards creditkarma and online googling doesn't show me.
