Anyone experience Discover not giving CLIs? I have had their card about 5 years with excellent payment history. I also have a bankcard that I put about $20K on a while back and that card was about 90% utilization when I applied for a couple of the CLIs and my aggregate was in the 20s. I have paid down my debt and my aggregate credit utilization is now about 7% and Discover denied me a CLI again. Did Discover deny me a CLI because of that one card? I read where someone suggested just reapplying. I did that tonight and was approved for a new card at $8,500. I don't understand the logic in granting/denying CLIs.
There is no rhyme or reason with Discover's CLI process.
If you haven't gotten the denial letter yet... wait for it to see what it has to say. The most common denial reason is insufficient experience at the current credit limit or something along those lines. Though, if you've had the same limit for a long time now, I'd be curious to see the reason.

Discover Orig CL was $1,200 then dropped to $900 sometime after maxing out other card. I didn't put a lot on the card and most months charged nothing but I did carry a balance and made more than minimum payment until it was paid off. I still owe on the other line and util is about 40% or so. Discover and Barclays are my lowest credit lines.
Congratulations on the second card.. It sounds like your original Discover has been bucketed...This second discover will likely grow given a bit of time...
Discovers seem to have a little more flexibility than say Cap One, but they are still Asset Backed Securities...
Seriously, give your new Disco three or more months, and i think it will grow more than your first one...

Thanks. I will make sure to keep this one paid off each month and finish paying down the other card.
Discover says that I have too many bank card accounts, too many revolving accounts and unsecured loans.
