My first mistake was signing up for CK i should of known they are full of it, but when i was first cleaning up my past they were free and listed everything on my TU report. Well i should of listened to the reviews about how CK places odds on approval for certain cards based on ones credit profile. CK indicated i had very good chances of applying for the Discover It card, but i remembered reading on another board that i could see if i preqaul without a HP so i went to their site putting my info in and was given a few offers to choose from one being the It card CK said i had a good chance of being approved. Well i decided to call Dicover and ask if this was truly the case or was this just some "other offers i may be interested in" like you get from Cap 1 and AMEX. I asked the CSR if she could pull up the same offer screen i was shown and tell me if i prequal. She asked me my name and SS # STOP i said i dont want an APP i just want to see if i am prequaled and she said she understood. She put me on a brief hold and when she came back on she said sorry at this time we cant approve you for a Discover card. I said ok thinking she only did a prequal soft pull well a day later i get an alert from the infamous CK saying a new INQ was reported it was Discover they had ran an app on me using the information i put into the offer page. I was pissed so i called them and basically got told the app was run and denied and if you want the HP off your report contact EQ or TU since they pulled both. Of course they both said Discover had to remove it and they wont so lesson learned i will never apply or deal with Discover they are as crooked as they come. ![]()
That call is recorded.. Call the EO and have them listen to it and get them removed. If Discover has any ounce of right/wrong and you stated exactly what you did in your message to the CSR it should be removed both of them. If they refuse simply don't ever consider Disocver again IMO.. They should remove them though hopefully.
Yes well not to make an excuse but i was kinda new to the whole credit application process and didnt know the difference between giving your full SS # and only the last 4 of it. Didnt know it was any different but now I do and as i said lesson learned
Yes i understand that however because i wasnt aware of an EO as i was really new to this whole credit business i waited to long to make a stink about it and didnt know i actually had that right. I am so thankful for MyFico now because i am learning the ins and outs of credit and will be better prepared in the future. Thank you for your reply
When did this occur. I would contact their EO and demand removal of those HP's. You specifically asked them not to run an app and they did anyway. Call should have been recorded so I'd ask them to remove those HP's.
Ask Discover to recode the HP into a SP. This should not be too difficult for a lender as DCU has done it for me. ... still showed on my report but as SP and not as HP ![]()
