I want the discover card. I had it in the past. Never defaulted and never late or anything. The account was closed by them due to inactivity. I was young and dumb back when I had it and just didnt use the damn card. You think by me having it in the past and in good standing will help my chances now to get it again? I have a paid tax lien and a paid collection from Verizon Wireless on my Equifax report now so I am a bit nervous to apply. Thoughts?

Do you have many new accounts? They seem to be ok with a couple aged negatives as long as there's not many new accts.
Newest account is 10 months old

Do you have many total accounts? It's really a toss up, unfortunately the Discover pre qualifier isn't reliable. It took me three tries to get approved and only when my reports were completely clean would they approve me. I had many new accounts though and I think if they see someone that will potentially use their card almost exclusively, are more forgiving if there are negatives reporting.
4 credit card accounts total that is open right now. 3 bank cards and a store card. 1 inquiry total on Equifax that is a year old. They are so conservative that I am afraid that I will need squeaky clean reports just to get in with them. I was hoping by me being a past customer in good standing would help but I doubt they would care.
