Because my trigger finger was itching (and I obviously no longer care about HPs), I apped for Discover as well, and got an all out denial. They cited too many balances (boo), too many inquiries (true), and account age (also true) as their reasons. I did go on a successful app spree in September (thanks Chase, NFCU(2x), NASA, & Comenity(2x)!), so their assessment is correct.
So I will now duck my tail, shovel in hand, and head back to the garden where I know I belong...at least until May 1, 2015 that is, when my car loan inquiries from April 2013 will drop off. ![]()
I will contribute that they used my Equifax score, and they do use the exact same one that the myFICO site uses, in case anyone is wondering.

What's your UTL and AAoA?
Per TU, my UTI is 12% and my AAoA is 1 year 11 months, although my oldest account is 12 years old.

Okay so what's your EQ score?
Discover isn't all that AAoA sensitive. But they seem to be very score sensitive.

I honestly don't even think they are score sensitive persay, we have seen ppl with 620-630's get approved and people in the 700's declined or offered joint account. Discover is becoming a black box to me how they operate

Well, there are folks who claim to have gotten AMEX revolvers, with mid 600 scores. AMEX won't show give me nuthin'. Discover wouldn't even offer me a joint account until I got to 650, and I didn't get approved until I reached 677 - with a ton of inquiries and low AAOA.

Well I am with you creditcarddiva... I was declined with amex green card with a 665 experian, I know I am borderline with them, will wait till i hit 680 and go for the PRG then.. Discover card I am not going to waste a HP sitting at 660ish equifax now, it would be close and if approved it would be only probably for 1500ish so not worth it to me, will wait for the score to cross the 690 to 700 threshold before applying with them, imo they are nothing special as a lender being discover. They nice thing is they only pull equifax and only have 3 hps in the last two years with them... I think some of the people that are getting approved in the 620-630's i see might of done the student card vs. regular card as well, but that might just be speculation as I heard they don't ask usually for proof you are a student

It's all in the profile, friend.
I'm one of those low end approvals for Discover at 637 EQ FICO. Got $1,800 SL from them with 0% for 6mos, and 22.99% afterward. ![]()

Me thinks I will wait for a discover, could I get approved now? Dunno, maybe or possibly, but dont want a blah 1500 credit line. I need one of those like a bullet in the head. No offense to anyone meant, just can't do much with a 1500 cl with regards to Utilization, etc. Buy a ticket and a car rental and you are at 60% utilization already
.
Credit card limits need to keep up with inflation lol

I honestly wasn't worried about the CL at the time ![]()
I have my $12,000 CL AMEX BSP in case I need to charge something that's 5 digits and can't immediately afford to pay it off in full.
