I was thinking more like a year, but 6 months works too, lol. I guess a lot will depend on how many of my inquiries have aged off by then.

I would recommend gardening for 6 months as well. I applied for the Discover IT card back in July 2015 and was denied.  I spend the last 6 months bringing down the balances on my two credit cards (the utilization was 90-99% - they are now at 1% utilization).  I applied again for the Discover IT card in Feb 2016 and was approved for a $1.6k CL. I did not qualify for the 0% APR for 12 months promo though but I was not too bummed out about it since I plan to pay off my balances in full each month so I don't incur any interest charges.
