Hi All...
I have posted about my recent success in getting CLI with Discover so thought I would also post this. I received the card in March of 2016 and received a luv button immediate increase at 61 days... then I hit it again 36 days later and received another large increase although not instant it was a 2 day review.
Between both luv button pushes I went from a start of $3k on the card to where it sits today at $10,500.
On 08/16 in the early afternoon, I hit the love button again as this was 32 calendar days since the last.
As of right now, nothing. I am guessing it will be a decline most likely with the reason of 'not enough experience at current credit line" I have averaged $3500-$4000 a month in spend on the card since receiving and PIF each month... only one month cut with a balance and that was only $439 . My cores when apply and receiving the card were between 675-685 they are not between 695-721.... Will try again in another 31 days.... Not at all shabby and super happy with the card as it is my highest limit a year ago my scores were only in the mid 500's.... a lot of increase in a 5 month old card I don;t blame them for pulling back a bit. Love Discover it's a great card.
My current credit lines (Discover, USAA, Marvel, Total Rewards, Sportsman Guide, Captial One QS, Capital One Venture) are $36.2k utilization is 1%
Negatives on reports remaining are two PAID medical collections.
I will keep posting my attempts and success or failure with Discover CLI for stats. Thanks all!
Don't assume A review isn't a decline. It just means you weren't eligible for an auto increase. I would suggest that you leave the cli button alone for at least a couple months. Let your history and scores build. The rest will fall into place.
I have gotten the 2 day message three times and all 3 times I received $3 or $4k increases. My most recent was yesterday. I requested a Cli on Monday after I received an email that my statement cut. I thought I might have received an auto increase for my one year anniversary but I didn't. I had to ask. I logged in last night and saw that I received a $4k increase.
I started at $2.5k one year ago. I am now at $21.5k. I won't be requesting any more cli's. They have been more than generous and $20k allows me enough cushion in the event I need to make a large purchase.
Good luck!!
Will this be HP or SP?
SP. They will ask permission before they do an hp and if you see that question, cancel the cli request. I haven't seen the question come up yet.
Wow! You've done very well - Discover is definitely your friend. You're are showing them that this is your go to card, and they've noticed. Got my fingers crossed for you. Good luck!
I received the letter in the mail today and as expected it stated; "Insufficient experience a current credit line" as the reason for declining a CLI at this time. No big deal Discover has been great with ClI's for me... will hold off for 60 or so days and request again.
Don't worry too much about it- Discover is probably the stingiest bank when it comes to CLIs in my experience. I got one of their cards a few years ago with like a $500 limit since then my other cards have regularly been approved with $20-30k limits or have had increases that drove them that high. Discover on the otherhand never gave me an auto-CLI and the one time I requested it they raised the limit to $1k. So I figured "maybe it's just because they don't want to increase the limit on the old card, try getting a new one and see what limit they give you"- applied for a second card and they gave me $500 limit...
Rant aside, their review process is bogus and comes back with idiotic responses- "insufficient experience with current line" (when it's been the same for almost 3 years) or my personal favorite "not enough use" (inquiring with a rep lead to this gem "maybe you should put larger charges on it- perhaps a new computer" on a $500 CL wth POS computer can you buy with that?) Be happy that they gave you $10k and get a card from another bank.
