See, you go invited to the date with Disco but, something came up and they had to cancel. This is what's called playing hard to get. You already have a thick profile of cards and mediocre scores to go with it. The Lien isn't helping matters at all either. Targeted marketing probably snagged you in the fishing net because your scores are where they start accepting people to go on a date. Sorry you didn't get the rose this time but, if you give up you'll never know if you will grow old together.
Get your crap together and dust off your tux because when you're finally put back together like Humpty Dumpty after a fall you'll be walking down the aisle together.
The moral of the story is.... don't be bitter about being declined. Very few people around here get in with Disco on the 1st try or some even up to 5 tries. It's worthwhile to keep trying once things on your CR are cleaned up a bit more. They're not Cap1 where they're going to give you 10K for having a pulse. Just to put them into perspective.... I started out with $4500 7/2015 and now as of 2/2017 they're up to $48K.
<--THIS IS PRICELESS... Im laughing.. but at the same time going, Hes right.....
The other route, though your very likely going to need 1-2 more HP..... is go with a chaperone, aka the Secured Card.... Not seeing the.. offer to secured as much these days from the initial denial, but having to flat out re-apply for the secured version........plunk down a 200$ deposit and dance for 6-7 months and you might get a wedding proposal... =)

to add to that, personally I would rather be declined for a card than receive a crap starting limit making the card useless. Although in the case of Discover that definitely doesn't apply since they grow fantastically.
I was denied twice by Discover the first year of my rebuild (pulled high 600's EQ). Only one reason listed on both letters "Tax Lien". It was a 13.6k Fed lien and open but about 16k at the time. I get mailers every couple of weeks from them now and may app some day when I need them. I never accepted the Secured Card offer... I just didn't want another secured line of credit.
LULZ @ AJC!
Did you spike your coffee this morning or what? You're still going strong this late in the day!!!
See, so, being bitter about a denial just comes with the process of Disco. They're not slutty like Tiner but, more in tune like e-harmony! Just because they swiped left on your butt doesn't mean you can't take another photo later and get a righty out of them. It's going to take some effort to get your foot in the door more so than putting lipstick on a pig and calling her Rapunzel.

You can say what you want but IMO Discover is not only the best unsecured card out there but the best secured card, best customer service, best CLI policy, best Mobile App, best website, best everything. I can't say one bad thing about them. Instead of being bitter figure out why you were denied and fix it. Sometimes things in life worth having are not easy.
+1 for being the best secured card and Disco definitely has the best CSR's. But Chase does have a better website. ![]()
