Discover It REQUIREMENTS?

For anyone who recently applied (especially those with average credit scores) could you please share your experience? Im looking to get a general idea of the credit score needed to apply for the Discover It card. As well as which one, since their site lists about 5! Im interested in the cash back rewards. Ive read they mostly pull EQ or TU. I have a freeze on my EQ since it has enough inquiries due to NFCU!! But since my TU is my highest score, I figure I may have a chance. Any thoughts?

Re: Discover It REQUIREMENTS?

If you have baddies it will make it a bit tougher for a Discover approval and yes EQ or TU seems to be the common bureau for them.

Re: Discover It REQUIREMENTS?

My EQ and TU scores are the lower ones and I was approved for a 1K CL. Here's the kicker... DIscover was part of my BK that discharged in 2010.

Not sure why they've chosen to forgive me but I'm happy they did.

What are your scores? Discovers primary credit bureau is EQ, if it's frozen it may get denied. Can you unfreeze it?

Re: Discover It REQUIREMENTS?

I can say too recent. But in 13 I applied for the IT card approved with a 3000 CL. I had a score of 659 with a few collections reported. In 2 years the IT card is now one of my highest CL at 20k. Treat them well they will treat you well back. Burn them etc. They can hold a grudge.

You must've mistaken my statement for being unhappy when actually it was quite the opposite.

Re: Discover It REQUIREMENTS?

I have always heard Discover likes thin, clean files.  But I got approved last Friday with a thick, dirty file! They pulled EQ, my fico was 642 and my CL is $1400.

I have unpaid collections for over $1k still showing, I have old unpaid c/o with original creditors, I have small upaid medical collections, I had 5 paid judgments, my last late pay was about 9 months ago (under a year).

My positives include age of oldest accounts (about 10 years) and few inquiries (this was only the 2nd).

I was so surprised I was approved that I actually wondered if Discover has lowered their standards lately.
