Newbie here... After seeing some improvements on all 3 scores last week and doing a lot of research here at MyFICO, I decided to try and apply for a new CC yesterday and I was approved for Discover It! Unsure of my CL, but I'm calling today to find out. Question: should I apply for another card today? My scores have all jumped about 20-25 points within the last week as I had some baddies fall off and my utilization is under 6%. What do you think? Am I right to apply for 2-3 cards at once and then garden for a while? I'm hovering at 600 on all three CRAs... Slowing improving. This forum has been an incredible source of information. Thank you all!
Update: CL is $1800. Pretty great for me! They did a HP on EQ and it only dropped my score 1 point. Phew! And I shouldn't say my scores are hovering at 600. They are: EQ: 621, TU: 596, EX: 623 (Why is TU always so much lower than the others?)
Congrats! Discover is my next credit card to app for, but I have been waiting for my scores to get a little higher. They are currently 611 EQ / 613 TU / 613 EX, I got a preapproval from Discover but I still think I'll wait a while.
Be sure to call and sign up for the double cash promotion!

congrats, my wife had similar scores and was approved for the Discover IT and Chase Freedom cards. There aren't many non-store cards you would get approved for with those scores. I would focus on getting scores higher before applying for more cards unless there is a justified need for it.
+1. you can consider it lucky to get approved with those scores. for sure don't push it to hurt scores any further. use the new card and let some time past. congrats btw.
I would probably sit out a little while. Enjoy your Discover card and build a good relationship with them. But if you are set on another card, probably check to see what your bank offers.
Thanks, all! I'm going to sit back in the garden and enjoy my new card for a bit ![]()
Congrats on your approval and gardening sound like a good idea.
