I was messing around checking some pre-approval websites and Discover matched me with their Discover it® Cash Credit Card 0% Apr for 14 months and then 11.99% –23.99% Standard Variable after. Did I really get pre-approved for this? From what I understand Discover's pre-approval isnt too reliable?
My scores: EQ 613 TU 605 EX 608
Thanks!
Yeah, the website isn't reliable for Disco. Watch for snail mail offers. That is how I got in.
I had BOA Secured as my ONLY credit card.
Shortly after, I started getting snail-mail offers for Discover. I ignored them until around the 6 month mark with BOA. I applied online with my pre-approval code and I was in...unsecured and a bit more than double what BOA's limit was. This may be just my opinion but I kind of felt they were legit because the snail-mail offers were coming almost every month like clockwork before I went for it...like they were begging me to accept. Lol
Also in case those aren't your real scores.....Credit Karma and BOA had me in low to mid 600's on their Free FICO/TU.
When I was approved with Discover, they pulled TU and the approval letter had my real score at the time as 740.![]()
I always get a wide range of interest too... I keep checking and eventually it will get better... what's odd is for the 0% interest they offered me 6 months and my hubby 14 months... I wonder if that is random or has anything to do with acceptance possibilities.
Also believe folks who are yearning to get a Discover... sign up for credit scorecard... its 1. Free FICO score a month and 2. The offers for discover from Scorecard have a bit more data attached and more selective than some of their mailing offers... because discover has YOUR info and your SP score obtained via Scorecard....
Need more datapoints on how this is used. but id go for a card offered via Scorecard vs their generic APR offer.... EXCEPT if its a fixed number... and not the highest they offer...but those usually come on paper mailings..

I never pre-qualified (always wide range) and no mailers.......and I was approved on my second app.
