Anyone know what the diffrence is between these two cards? They look similar and there is a $20 benifit for good grades. on the for students but I am concerned on which to apply for. The regular one is simple but without a benifit but the top limit is whatever Discover wants to issue. The Student card might have a internal top limit but has the minor benifit. Anyone know the diffrences for these cards?
Student usually opens under $1K and doesn't grow much unless you convert it later.
DW applied for Student SL $500. 1 month later I applied for regutar IT, SL $1,000.
30 months later DW card limit $6,000 (her low limit card), mine $25,000 (my high limit card). We put the same income, same rent.
There is no rewards difference most of the time. I remember a quarter with extra category for her (shell gas IIRC).
My husband had gotten $1,500 on his Student Discover IT and I got $500 on mine. We only applied for these as students since they said even with a job in school (We make over $75,000 as grad students) to apply for the student one. He is about to hit 3 months to apply for a limit increase.
Honestly wishing we would've both applied for the normal one after hearing the CLI being so low. My starting limit of $500 was with 730 TU btw, although had a bit of new accounts.
