Discover? Mailer?

Hello everyone. I am still very new to this but wanting to app for the discover it credit card.

Right now my odlest cc is 6 months old with BOA, it is the partialy secured cash back card where I gave 99 down, and got 500 limit. Now that I am at 6 months my fico score finally showed up through them and it says it is a fico score 8 based on transunion. So it is like the real deal right XD It says that is 710 as of 8/19/16.

I also have a capitol one cc that is 5 months old. I started with the platinum cc, and then did a pc to QS. So those are they only 2 I have as of right now. No late payments, always pay in full by due date.

I was thinking of buying the FICOScore 3B Report from this website to see the other 2, but for 60 idk yet, so wanted to see if maybe the fico score I'm getting from BOA would be good enough to get a discover cc, what do you people think?

Re: Discover?

Yes Discover often approves people with thin files you should be fine they have a pre approval site here to check if you're pre approved for them:

https://www.discovercard.com/application/fmo?execution=e1s1

Also you can go to creditscorecard offered by Discover even to non customers provides a free FICO 8 by Experian

Good Luck!

Re: Discover?

Well I have read here that the discover pre approval site is no good.

Hoping to see what people got approved with, and what got pulled.

Thanks,

Re: Discover?

It appears you have a reasonable chance to get the Discover It. If you want/need the card and don't mind the hp then give it a shot. GL

Re: Discover?

i bought they monthly 30 because it lets me know any changes to my account pretty quickly.

it works better than the ones provided to you once a month.

in terms of your discover application, maybe check the prequal? i was prequaled for it with lower scoers than you but countered with no apr intro bonus as opposed to the 0%.

if you really want the card, why not.

also, you may want to get AMEX BCE so they can give you the Experian FICO8 for your knowledge too.

Re: Discover?

I'd definitely check all your reports before apping if you haven't already. With the way they seem to favor thin profiles, chances seem pretty good with your score provided there aren't any baddies.

Re: Discover?

DIscover preapprovals are very iffy...

(that said if you get a set APR vs a range of APRs its likely to be a good offer)

that said.. I would go to credit scorecard and get your score (even though your using a service)

my thought process...

Youll get targeted offers... and get on Discovers radar...*they will use the pull too*

plus with your scores already.....

Still will probably need an HP or two for a card but the soft pull will be considered.

If you get a score you like from the discover scorecard site... then id try a preapproval..

Im a bit curious as to what your offer will be.

That said. id still probably apply.

If your giving us all the information.... and havent burned Discover in the past.. Really think your odds are good/great to get a card from them...

as folks have said, they do tend to approve people with thin but clean files.... moreso than other prime card issuers..

if you end up with a sucky apr or such... you can later go for an apr reduction and most CLIs are soft pulls...

Re: Discover? Mailer

I had decided to wait a bit to apply but then yesterday I get home from work, check the mail box and have recieved an invitation from Discover Smiley Happy

So that of course has me wanting to apply!! I am guessing my chances are better now, right? Also does it matter that I lived at my current address for less than a year,?10 months now, would that make it less likely for me to get a credit card with them? Would that make them offer me a secured card insteda because of that? I don't want a secured card, but if it will eventually graduate to a regular card I wouldn't mind, as I don't see myself going after anything else after the Discover card.

Thanks!

You can definitely apply for it. I applied Discover with just 1-month credit history and received an unsecured card with 1K limit and there was no hard pull on my reports

Even my roommate got an unsecured discover with 1K limit with 6 month history. Discover really likes thin files.

Re: Discover? Mailer

Oh cool, got it!

Another thing, how many points will this lower my score. Just curios before I do anything.

Thanks,
