Re: Discover Pre-Approval with Solid APRs

Was looking through this thread, I decided to check for my Discover prequalification offers, surprisingly I had the miles, the IT card, and the chrome all preapproved, however, they are all showing the highest interest rate. I currently have a Discover IT for $6000, I have not use this account in several months and has had a zero balance. How much should I put through this card monthly to show them love, so they can show me a better rate? The only reason I would use this card is for the BT option, I currently don’t have any offers, but I’m trying to get rid my capital one, So would like to balance transfer some. Thanks!

Re: Approved for Discover via new Pre-Approval site!

Hey old post but did you ever figure out the discover pre approval error message? I’ve been getting it also for months. “Error processing your request, can not check for preapproval at this time”

For me, I think it had to do with me being black listed.  I had a charge off with them from 2013 that I paid in full in 2014 in hopes of getting back on their good side, but that didn't work.  I will try the pre-qual about once a month, sometimes I still get that error message and sometimes I get the "sorry, we did not find any offers for you" message.  Do you have a history with Discover?

No I’ve never had a Discover account. It’s weird cuz I’ve been getting this message for months, but I did actually get an approval once for the secured card but I didn’t apply because I didn’t have the money to fund it right then. Bummer! Can’t figure out how to get around this message.

Re: Approved for Discover via new Pre-Approval site!

How solid is the Discover prequalify site?

I still have my Discover It Secured (should graduate any month now) and my wife is an AU. I tried the prequalify site with her info and she gets a solid APR for both the cash back and Chrome. Granted it’s not a good APR but our discharge will be 1 year in April. Her scores are in the low to mid 600s. Her NFCU card just graduated too.

Is this a good sign that she would be approved?

Re: Approved for Discover via new Pre-Approval site!

Think we could talk them into a lower APR? Not like that it matters as we haven’t paid a cent of interest on either my Discover Secured or her NFCU ever since we got them.

The rate she prequalified for is 25% which is the same as my Discover secured. APR really doesn’t matter to us since we don’t carry a balance but it would be a nice to have a lower one.

Also does Discover do recons on SLs?

The only way is to call them and find out. For me did not worked out in lowering apr.
