Sorry to hear about your experience.. I guess congrats on the approval. Discover doesn't have UW's. What the computer says goes. They might call themselves credit analyst or underwriters, but they are nothing more than regular trained CSR's and what the computer says goes. Whether you can bark up the chain through he EO and get the account re-opened it might be possible as the conversation is most likely recorded and ask them to pull up the conversation if you know the time/date that it happened. I have had HP's and various other credit related things addressed this way although not with Discover, but other lenders and the recording verified my point and that the CSR was indeed wrong and they have made it right being other lenders in the past. Maybe take that route?
I would Keep pursuing it personally as if they made the mistake they should fix it. Might take ALOT of patience and holds, etc.. Hopefully you can get someone on the line that has a clue, if not then a letter might be the best method, but i can guarantee you that conversation was recorded. Best of luck whatever you do!
CSR's are one thing and Lending is a different thing with Disco. Give this # 800-347-4856 a call and see if they can reverse the closure. These are the ones that make decisions on things when you get a 2-day on a CLI and have a little more power to do stuff.
WOW that sucks OP!
I would not let this go. Contact the EO and make them fix their mistake.

Have you considered. Filing a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau? I have always found going through them usually gets the most effective resolution as companies don't like unresolved complaints
I actually have not, but I do know a great credit attorney, so if I can not solve the problem myself, I might give her a telephone call and ask her for suggestions. Although, I will be looking into that, thank you for the suggestion.
