Okay, yeah it was only $800 and it was paid within a month. Thanks!

That's one way to look at it. Another is you went 60% over your CL causing your card to be closed.

That certainly is a reason for the card to be shut down, but to be blacklisted is another story. Especially if they paid the card off in full and they were able to rebuild to a FICO score of 700 plus.

In her syndicated advice column Ann Landers would regularly quote a saying, various versions of which trace back centuries: "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."

Not wanting to lend to one who has broken agreements in the past seems a quite reasonable position for a lender to take, especially in such a short period of time. I think the CSR's advice was also reasonable, "Check back in a couple of years."

Re: Discover blacklist?

I agree. I'm one that Chase has locked out until 2024 due to my having IIB'ed them to the tune of $13k; in fact, I'm really not sure I'd even be allowed to apply for one of their co-branded cards. I IIB'ed Citi on a mortgage (secured loan) as well as a co-branded (Best Buy) card; I'm told I might be able to get a co-branded Citi card again, possibly the Costco one, but I'd be bucketed and unable to get CLI's. In both cases, the lenders are justifiably reluctant to take another chance on me until enough time has passed that they can be sure of me again. It's unfortunate given that these are, along with Amex (which won't take applications from me until next year due to my BK although I've never done business with them) the favorite issuers here, or at any rate the most mentioned ones, but it is what it is.

Re: Discover blacklist?

I'm not saying it isn't justified. I think that lenders can deny you based on having the letter a in my name. I still want the card. My credit is much better than it was and I am trying to get more accounts with low balances being paid off every month so I can get a mortgage in the future. I appreciate the insight

Re: Discover blacklist?

Just keep in mind that if you decide to escalate the issue to the EO channel, Discover isn't known to reconsider.   Doesn't hurt to ask, but I wouldn't keep my hopes up.
