I know Discover doesn't owe me anything and I know they will give me a CLI someday but, geesh, can't they throw me a bone? I just asked for a CLI again, today is 105 days, and was denied again. Admittedly, the first requests were too early, but this one should've had a chance just going by what I see happening so often on here.
One interesting thing, the first couple of times I asked the denial reason was "Insufficient Experience with Current Discover Card Credit Limit," but last time (not today) it was "Serious Delinquency, and Public Record or Collection Filed, Number of Accounts with Delinquency, and Length of Time Revolving Accounts have been Established." I don't have nor have ever had any delinquent accounts prior to nor post-BK. Maybe I better order my full TU report, but as of the last time I checked it was all reporting correctly.
I feel like sticking my Discover card in the sock drawer...
Usually the insufficient experience is just a timing thing since last increase. The oddball responses you listed are usually a fluke with their system when they do a denial. Just put them on the calendar to hit the button every 30 days and don't worry about what they say. You already cleared the hurdle and got in the front door. I found persistence to be key in my first year of tinkering with their CLI button.

Thanks, Gmood1! I went back and read some older posts by people not getting CLIs from Discover, so I know I'm not alone. I think the thing that is so frustrating is that I really like the card, the cashback match, the customer service, all of it. But both my other major cards gave me higher SLs to begin with, Cap1 $3000 + a $300 CLI +Credit Steps coming in December, and Barclay NFL Rewards $3500. Discover only started me at $1000 SL. I get it, I totally do, I really do, but it's still frustrating.
@ Austin guy , Now that's the kind of limit I'm looking for!😀
I'll keep plugging away. Maybe I'll get there one day!

Stay on them! Got one back on 7/18, tried after 60 days, got the "insufficient experrience" mumbo-jumbo. Used it a bit, denied again. Just got the token $500 cli, 90 days on the nose. They do like usage, as others have reported. Good luck!

Thanks, austinguy907. That is good to know about the oddball responses. I will keep hitting it for sure, and I'll check the thread out. $4500 to $35000 in a year...that is awesome!
Thanks Viva-LV! I won't give up!

If you've spent any time on here reading about Discover you'd know they're an oddball!!!!
They started me at $4500 as stated above when my avg limit everywhere else was ~18K with a high limit on a single card of $29K.
Just keep at it and they will payoff in the long run.... some have been stuck in $500/cli land for a couple of years and then the flood gates opened up for 6-7K/cli... others have been sitting in the middle of the road at 3-4k/cli and sometimes Discover feels generous and gives out 6-8K/cli for whatever random reason.

I just have to put this into perspective..... it doesn't have to be a huge amount of usage either. I stuck with a couple hundred a month or less for some normal monthly bills i.e. internet, phone, etc.
Sure the double cashback is tempting for heavy spending but, there's not much influence on how much it will grow by how much you put through it. Just use it, pay it, repeat seems to work well with them.
