He has more recent derogs and makes at least $9k less than I do. My limit is $3100. Can't get a CLI to save my life. Today, friend prequal'd for ITCash. Took the app, approved for $7500.
I don't get it.
Man, I never got a CLI on My 2nd Disco after a year ... put some decent spend on it to.
Hard to figure out, That's for sure.
I'll hit the one-year mark on my second Disco in October. It's only a $1500 card and I've been running close to a grand a month through it and PIF the last couple months. Hopefully that'll help on that one, since my ITCash is over two years old and got its only CLI three months after opening, a $300 bump to $3100. Last two No Soup letters have said "not enough use of the existing CL" so I've been putting $700-1000 through it and PIF also (although this is only the second month of doing so but I'm taking full advantage of it being restaurant quarter for the 5%). I figure I'll do this monthly until December, hit them up each month, and see if the spend and the onset of holiday shaping season inspires them to be a little generous. If not, I'll probably just SD both cards and put it all back through Amex.

Yo, read through the thread. I just want to say that Discover is lending millions of people money. We don't know what boxes we need to have checked to have them give CLIs, but I have noticed in this thread that some of you guys are treating it as if it's your right to a CLI, or a competition.
Dudes, it's neither. If you need a CLI to make a purchase, call. If you're doing it to get a bigger handle on overall utilization or to game the FICO system, check yourself. I'm fairly new to credit, and while I treat it as a game, after pressing a few luv buttons and getting declined/approved/anything in-between I've realized I usually don't need it. So ask yourselves: am I going to use this credit limit for a purchase, or am I working myself up over nothing?
Not trying to come all sideways at you fine people, we're all in the same boat here. Just hoping to throw my perspective in the mix.
No one is taking it that serious.
Welcome to the world of Discover, where up is "orange", down is "37", right is "cat" and wrong is "sunshine." It is a world where logic as you know it does not exist. Discover will randomly like you or dislike you. There is nothing you can do to change it, except wait a while and hope they change their mind.
My oldest open card, with moderately heavy use and flawless payment history, is Discover. My smallest open card is that same Discover. It is slightly more than 10% as big as my biggest card. Why? I don't know? But hey - they recently gave me a $300 CLI! Woohoo! I should caveat my comments by noting that A) my profile is pretty weird (see below), and B) my Discover is a formerly secured card. But still ...

I tried numerous times checking myself, but unfortunately it didn't work. I'd still like a CLI on it, so I'll keep asking. If I don't get it, it's not the end of the world. In fact, I like the fact that I get my TU F8 score free monthly from Discover on the denial letter! 😂
How do I ✔️ myself?
Is there a short manual or something?
I have a Discover IT card that I have had since about 2012 that had a $1500 SL.... low spend, never asked for a CLI.... I started using it more about 3 months ago, running $1-2K per month through it (paid multiple payments most months... never paid in full, usually had a $500ish balance most times... Without asking, they gave me a bump to $10k limit last month.. I then added a Discover Chrome and got a $6000 SL on that card..
Hope this helps some who are trying to figure out what Discover likes.
