Does anyone know if discover has any policy about being let back in after bk? Just trying to plan ahead for the future. I've tried calling but every time I’m just told there is no time frame.
When I run the pre qual it shows the denial reason being "Status of existing/prior Discover card account". When I called they said I could apply anytime so I tried for the secured back in april. Ended up with a hp and just the same denial reason of "Status of existing/prior Discover card account". It seems to be denying based off internal info and not my reports. Is anyone aware of how long it would be before theres actually a chance? Like a year? 5 years? 7 Years? Not sure how strict discover is with that. As a reference they were only burned for around $400 in my BK.

I think you might have tried to soon, if you were discharged and IIB in April and also tried for a card in April. Even Cap 1, who is known to be very forgiving, suggests you wait a year (although others have been known to get in earlier). Can't give you a timeframe for Discover. But, I do think at least 1 year, but quite possibly alot longer. That being said, I would say check the prequals every 6 months or so.

I figured that, I saw posts of people getting the secured even before discharge so I took a shot. The account was closed in jan when I filed. I'll wait till the 1 yr mark and check the pre qual then. Thanks!
OP have you had any success with this now that you are passed the one year mark?
