My Discover opened October 23. I actually hit the button and was declined November 24th.. Should i wait 90 days from Nov 24th (the day i last requested a CLI) or from October 23(the day the card opened) to try again..I guess waiting that extra month wont hurt to be sure i didnt get penalized for the early request. thx.

Doesn't really matter on the 90 day thing other than the opening 90 days.  They don't make you wait longer if you're denied or anything.  Just give it some time from 10/23 to say 1/23 unless you see them give you an increase in between 60-90 days which is usually when you'll see something change if it's going to.

At graduation there's typically a CLI associated with it.  Doesn't hurt to hit the button after you see the graduation happen though.  It's been a mixed pot of approvals/denials though from recent posts.  Things are changing over at Discover as evident in their policy shift to start reviewing at 7 months instead of 12 months like they used to.  They're also cleaning up the backlog of older accounts that haven't converted in the 18-24 month period.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

On a somewhat unrelated note but still applies to Discover.

Curious if anyone has managed to encourage an APR reduction of more than one within a 6 month period.

Sorry if this was already pointed out earlier.

Just got my SM response back from the request for one which cited one was already approved "within" 6 months.

I wonder if they count the days to exact numbers with that. They sure don't with some SP CLI's as i just Discovered.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

I've had my card about a year and a half. Originally approved for 10k at 12.99APR. I was in the $500 CL increase category until I hit a year (maybe one 2500 in there.) then boom one 6.5k and another 6k. Now the account is at 28.5k  I used it monthly for many purchases until the zero interest ended then I paid off the balance (first 6.5k increase) and now use it for cashback categories and pay in full monthly.

I tried a couple of times via chat. Nothing within 6 months. I don't know if you can ask when the 6 months are up, maybe you can do that.

I had a wrong date from my DW request and only 5 months passed. She asked 5 weeks later and got 2 offers, 3% down or 0%/12 month promo, she is using the card like crazy Smiley Happy

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

My card went from 1k secured to $1750 at graduation 7 months in. Then I hit the button the same day and it went to $2200.

I'll try again at 31 and 91 days and update.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

Called in requested increase, was offered 1000 without an inquiry (which reinforces the 500 I declined+500 matching or getting more over the phone), said I had amtrak card and amex with 24-25k limits and wanted an increase to 20k.  And if they couldn't do it I would not be disappointed with them.  He pulled my report Transunion.  Increased to 20k. Done!  Have some inquiries dropping off so I was just fine with it, and would prefer to have it now than wait 3-6 months.  Thanks for all the info!!!

That's a good result from a single TU HP.  I agree with some people wanting to push the limit and take the HP if you have a strong profile they're willing to make things happen provided you let them do the HP.  I'm not sure why they take tiny steps in comparison with the SP information being the same as the HP but the HP being more detailed level of view.

$1000 double dip online/phone isn't too bad but, it's still that dam-ned $500 bucket that some get stuck in for awhile.  So, going off your signature you jumped from 15K to 20K with a single HP?  I'm not sure why they had you in the $500 bucket but, providing the HP should yield some better results come Feb/Mar when you hit the button again.  I'm wondering if the HP CLI cracks things open moving forward and might be advisable with people with stronger profiles to burst the bubble and move up into the higher tier CLIs.

Congrats on the increase and thanks for taking some time to let us know Smiley Happy
