Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

I get no love from Disco. My card is about to close on 9 months and I've recieved only a single $500 CLI in that time. Applied with a 766 and was approved for $1500 @ 11.24%. AmEx and USBank on the other hand have shown me quite a bit of love.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

@Brutal... Lol. Sorry. I was actually thinking I had seen your name and posts and wondering how you didn't know where to get FICO scores. Lol. My bad.

How does your spend / statement balance look like each month?  Is that 766 your TU score?  What's your TU score when you're logged into your account?  Yes other lenders do grow quicker than Discover initially.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

I put maybe $500 a month on it and PIF. I'd move a lot more to it if I had a higher limit, but if they don't want to play ball I'll continue spending with AmEx. The 766 was straight from the Disco FICO for the first report and is currently at 745.

Hmmm.... everything looks in order from what you're saying.  Maybe drop the spend down to $200 or less for that sweet spot of 10%.  Otherwise others have taken matters into their own hands and given them a call and pushed for a CLI, taken the HP, but also got an increase for $5K out of it.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

Here are several additional perspectives as well. Good luck everyone. I have found from having the Discover card for several years that there really are not discernible patterns that follow a specific rhyme or reason. Certainly try for CLI; but don't knock yourself out trying to get one. Discover is definitely an odd bird.

Sorry to hear, Schwartzinator. Discover makes no sense when someone with a 766 FICO gets a low DIscover APR and a $1,500 SL to go with it. They can be weird sometimes.

With Discover's CLI policy does it matter what the initial limit is?  (Sort of like Amex in that regard)

Also given it's rewards capped at $1500/quarter $1500 is a perfectly servicable line.  I can't fault Discover with the approval stats on this one just from the cards' positioning... it's not a general spend card and they absolutely know it.
