When you request for CLI, do you put the same info all the time?

Do you mean the 4 pieces of data entered at the CLI request screen with Discover?  I believe it's just income, assets, employement status and monthly rent/mortgage payment.  Yes, I always have those 4 pieces of info the same as they really don't change.

I have toyed with the idea of including my girlfriend's income to mine since she's lived with me for 5 years and I have reasonable access to her money (if I needed to) although her income is only about 1/3 of mine so it wouldn't be a huge increase.  I've also thought about deducting the amount of escrow from my monthly mortgage payment and only entering in the principle + interest amount of the payment since technically that's all it is as I could in theory just pay all of my taxes once per year and my monthly payment would be almost half of what it actually is with the escrow included.

I'm not sure if either of these factors would help my chances of favorable Discover CLIs, but together I would certainly say they can't hurt.

Its just weird because you keep on putting the same info on CLI and at some days you get a little CL some denied, some huge amount.

Really don't know how that work..

Another data point, guess this is obvious, if you change your due date, the FICO score date also change.

I did a test too, 2 day after 32 days from last CLI and got the 'not enough experience' letter 8 days letter, then asked again that day, got 2 day message and 6 days later they approved 6K more.

I don't want to go over 40K limit with my income. It was a nice run, 4.5K and 4x6K increases in less than 9 months.

Good data, and no doubt that was a nice run.  My target limit too is $40k.  I know there's a thread on here that discusses at what limit a trade line is no longer counted into overall utilization.  Most think $50k, which is one reason why I want to avoid a $50k credit limit.  $40k is more than sufficient, and that will leave a little cushion in case I ever get an auto-CLI after hitting that amount.

Out of curiousity what is your declared income if you don't mind me asking?

Nice $6500 increase!  What does your monthly spend look like?

I havent used the card much only on 5% in the last quarter because my double period is up. I maxed out the 1500.00 for the quarter, I always pay the bill down to 200-300 before statement cuts.

That is a very nice run, 4.6K and 4x6K is awesome....I think Ill try and hope for 2 more 6K CLI's by summer this year and I'll be done asking, lol 40K is about my cut off as well. I don't want to get the two much credit from other lenders later this year when I apply for other cards.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

I'm going to try the next request in 6 weeks as that seems to be working out for me on increases.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

@BrutalBodyShots, my stated income is 55K. Discover is near 40K and another CLI will put me over that and I don't want to do that.

When I was at 25K I said that is more than enough, no more CLI for me (Amex also at 25K), then I asked again and said, well, over 30K, who knew? no more. Now I'm close to 40K and I think this is the last time.

Now I'll focus on DW's Discover. She started with $500 student card and last month got a CLI that put her above 10K.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

Thanks for the reply.  I think it's in our nature to always want to push the limits (literally) to see what we can obtain in life.  Credit card limits as stupid as it may sound to those not spending time on the myFICO forums are one of these things.  It's the classic case of people wanting what they can't have and/or not wanting or being happy with what they do have.  I'm guilty of it and think many people are.  It's not necessarily a bad thing, just human nature.  As soon as you get to one goal (credit limit, credit score, etc) the carrot gets dangled again, just a little further away.  For many, this can become a never-ending process.

I tell myself that $40k is where I'd be happy and the point that I'd "stop" at.  Sitting at $24.8k now, that seems reasonable.  However when I achieve $40k, what will I want then?  The carrot will be dangled again probably nearer the $50k mark.  It needs to be a decision of the person as to when the time should be that the carrot stops being pursued, as it will always be there regardless.

I personally don't want any of my individual credit lines at $50k+ as I'm fairly certain that at that level they aren't factored into overall utilization any longer... so again, for now, my goal is $40k with both Discover and Amex Smiley Happy

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

I quit asking for CLI when I hit 35k since I can't see ever needing more than that.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

I think $35k is a very reasonable Big Boy Limit and one that would statisfy the vast majority.

Out of curiosity, if Discover were to give you an auto-CLI would you accept it or stick to the limit you're at?
