DWs card have the same message. DW will try tomorrow but I bet she will get 3-5 day message. This is the third time that she get that message, no CLI so far.

What is her current limit and when was her last CLI?

Current limit $12,000. Last CLI Dec/16.

The card started as a student card with $500, first CLI was an auto-CLI after 14 months (she asked 6 times or more for CLI during that time).

Then nothing for 13 months. CLI to $4,500, Jun/16, to $6,000 Aug/16, to $7,500 Oct/16, to $12,000 Dec/16.

CM7 - while the train was rolling down the tracks the BT thing would come into play for a lot of people when they would pay it down the CLI's would resume.  With everything being wonky though since 3/29 it's hard to pin them down on what is holding everything up.  There's been a few people that have managed to get past the gates and obtain CLI's.  There have been signs of things changing though for the better with mentions of 2-day reviews starting again and another one that just got a 7K increase and approaching a 50K limit with that one.

This is just something we all have to ride out until they resume what we consider normal activity again.  I'm sure when they do we'll see more activity around here posting the praises once again.  It's just a waiting game at this point for 80% of the people that have a Disco that stopped getting higher CL's.

Yep, not ashamed to say it's worth every bit of a whine but no matter.

They can keep their unacceptable favorisms because there are plenty of their competitors AND plus other Regional lenders who aren't as cheesy like they continue to be with some.

Plus anyway if they can't or don't want keep pace and treat everyone equally they are OUT!

They don't need us and we certainly don't need them either. Their competitors will gladly accept the business and profits without choking customers limits.

Agree they offer nothing special other then double cash back for first year along with meh BT offers, which CU's can easily do plus CU's certainly give higher CL's if your profile/income supports it.  I am so close to being done with Discover.  Why they favor some and not others blows my mind and usually the people they favor profiles are not the best either.

Why so many people praise Discover kinda is weird maybe cause they give chances to people right out of BK with good limiits?  Their CSR's just have friendly attitudes, but can't actually really do anything as they aren't credit analyst and go exactly by what the computer says.  Why Amex will hand m 65k in limits along with Chase and BofA and various other prime lenders then their is the special child they call Discover which has no rhyme or reason.  I understand lenders like some more then other and learning to realize discover doesn't value me as a customer and most likely I am not profitable to them.  That is fine, will be most like be closing out my account shorlty now that the account is about 15 months old.  My rant is over as well Smiley Happy

Hello forum,

Question for the discover veterans out there

I was approved for a counter offer Discover IT last April with a $1,200 SL & 23.49 Apr. The card has grown to $3,600 but has seen no further cli's since February of this year. I think I have reached my credit max on this card. My profile has improved dramatically since the approval so I was thinking of apping for another discover IT, shift the credit line from my current card to the new one, and close the old one. How would you think my chances of doing this would be? And would a higher approval SL & lower Apr place my odds better to aboard that much coveted disco train😉

Opening another card is an option but, there's been a train derailment since 3/29 which may or may not be the reason you haven't seen any movement.  If you can provide more of a snapshot of then/now for comparison it might be easier to point you in the right direction but, with the scores in your signature it would suggest that you have some more stuff to clean up or just are lacking some aging due to a few too many new accounts.

Opening a 2nd card with Disco probably won't do much for you the way you're thinking it will.

I would hop on chat and request a rate reduction though to gauge where you're at specifically with Disco at this point. If they don't offer a perm rate reduction then ask if there are any special offers on your account like a 0% period.  As for the combining of CL's and such it's a mixed bag of results from either at opening they offer to combine instead of sending out a new account, some get told they have to wait 90 days before moving CL's around.

Yes. In April 2016 received the borderline counteroffer with a judgement , state tax lien, and several student loan lates reporting score ate approval was 640 according to EXP not sure what my EQ was as they double pulled. As of today I have the judgement and state tax lien removed only thing showing is the student loan lates. I have added multiple accounts since then but they are finally aging as I have been in the garden since February.

I did did start a thread a couple months ago about an temp APR reduction on here but can't seem to locate it for some reason lol! They offered a temp reduction from 23.49 to 18.49 for 6 months as well as a 0% BT offer for 14 months I believe.

As for spending, not much since the first of the year (which could explain the lack of cli's) Although I did just take advantage of that BT offer and shifted $ 780.00 to my barclay card. Why?

CLI's where at 73 day mark $ 500 then at 93 days $ 900 then another after 90 days for $500 then my last one in February for $500 ...And that's all she wrote!..($2400 CLIS / Total CL $3600)

Scores according to their website have been as high as 724 to as low as 677 from the start of my account history.

I'm not sure what you're looking for.  Right now isn't the best time to pull off the shuffling of accounts to get better T&C's on the account.  I haven't gotten any CLI's since Feb either along with tons of other people.  I understand the frustration with them right now not moving upwards like they were before but, it's nothing personal since it's across the board an issue right now.

Frustrastions have been mounting and it's just what Disco is doing at the moment with accounts. You're putting in the work and cleaning up your file.  Keep pushing to clear things up and you will be rewarded.  Keep on Disco though and be persistent with them if you're not getting what you want and eventually you might.

It takes some effort to get where you want to go and if you want it bad enough you find a way eventually to get there.  Disco isn't your average lender as you can see from the thread and your own personal experience.  There's complaints about Disco not being touchy feely but, there's evidence that they give a crap about their customers in comparison to other CCC's.

Really if we're complaining about 1st world problems chances are they're not really all that important vs having to survive off the land and off the grid.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

My July payment just cleared, so I'm now just waiting for my next statement to cut and then around the 10th I'll try the CLI button to see if I'm on the 30-day schedule. If not, I'll try again in August (60-day) and September (90-day). I haven't done a BT to Discover yet, but I'm looking at doing that sometime this fall with my no-longer-needed Cap 1 secured card once I've paid down the balance.

Okay Yes the $780.00  over to barclays was just taking advantage of a BT offer Discover had going as well as putting more spend on my other cards.I just really wanted to so some type of activity with them since I hadn't really used the card much since March. And I do see your point in just maybe going for a "permanent" rate reduction and holding out for some changes to kick in down the road for CLI'S again.

Guessing my thinking was if I got approved for a SL between $5k-$10k with better apr, that would set me up for the disco train if it happens to return down the road.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

Bruised.....  being impatient and opening a new CC with Disco isn't going to get you where you want to get right now.  Higher approvals with them don't seem to be the norm and it's not worth the risk of trying it.  If you do though then you would be looking at the Miles version since you can't have 2 of the same product.  Once the climate changes though it might not be a bad idea if you want to do it for other reasons than trying to get a higher SL/terms than your current account.  Taking on the Miles would give you the DCB again for 12 months and effective 3% earning or higher if you use Disco Deals to cash in on things.  After they're old enough then it may be possible to combine the limits for a super CL.  However it's been a mixed bag of results trying to combine things. Miles can move to IT but, IT can't move to Miles.

Just something to think about if you're thinking about it.

Good stuff. I will hold off and let somethings age on my profile. Guess I will also keep the It card I have and see if they can do a permanent rate reduction first. Thanks again!
