This is what makes people so mad at discover that have high limits on other cards and people with good to excellent scores. Discover IMO prefers people with little credit being not big CL's as they want to be your "go to" card from everything I can see.. They given me pathetic limits on my two cards I have with them in comparison to my other cards, but the best APR they offer.. It makes no sense recently approved for miles at 1250 CL (lol) and the best apr on the miles.. Seriously? My high CL is 35k and well you guessed it my lowest by a good amount is Discover IT at 4500 at 15 months old... Others are around 15kish a few lower and quite .a few in the 25kish range.
I think they figure I won't use them with all my other better cards I have as only thing discover is good for is SP CLI's and possibly BT's, but my CU can beat them on that along with the 5x cats and double cash back for first year, but that is honestly only 75$ per quarter cash back on the 5% back isn't huge money by any means. Obviously discover doesn't take income into consideration or DTI persay either as data points on forum shows people with incomes around 50k having 30k discover cards for example then people in the six figures with huge CL's on other cars stuck in discover crud land of < 5k cl's and the like..
Just from everything I have gathered from discover they like to be one of your first cards when you don't have alot of credit to get on their good side or they like to be with someone right out of BK as basically the same theory not alot of credit and hoping for alot of use as this is all I can piece together.. I feel like I am bitter and acting entitled which maybe I am, but certainly they can do better than 4.5k CL and a 1.25k CL for me as they are basically pushing me away from ever wanting to use their cards at the same time if that makes any sense. I am bitter towards them as the 1.25k CL is not useable if I wanted to let a balance post and the 4.5k CL is pretty unusable for a BT if I wanted to even do one of those... This is the only sense I can make about discover and you will see this over and over from other posters in similar scenarios as yourself and me, etc.
Only reason I kept the miles card is cause I did get the best APR and cuious what their first CLI will be, but guessing 500 to 1k.. Once I see that if they don't allow the combination of me rolling my IT card into the Miles card the Miles will be probably my shortest lived card ever and will just cancel it as it probably is doing my profile more harm than good with that CL. w/regards to future approvals

What's important to understand is that what works for one person with respect to favorable CLI positioning may not and often does not work for the next. There are people out there that put 1 swipe on their Discover card per month for under $100 and they receive nice CLIs. The are other people that receive nothing with small spends like this. There are others that spend 50%-75% of their limit per month that get great CLIs, yet others don't. As with anything in life, you don't get different results by doing the same thing. You said you put $1500/mo through Discover for the last 2 cycles. I'd continue this method for another cycle or two and see if that yields you a CLI. Clearly the small spend of a few hundred bucks didn't do anything for you, so I'd focus on a greater spend. This could take more than 2 cycles though, so I wouldn't get discouraged so quickly as you've only shown them a nice spend for 2 months thus far.

'Somethings wrong here'
I say the same thing daily when I see everyone here with lower scores than mine who were able to get into NFCU through the SD chapter who have cards with them at $24k! I want to be a member. :/
I know exactly how you feel.

Concur. Not getting a CLI this month doesn't particularly bother me given, among other things, all the different schedules that people are reportedly on and the issues Discover has been having with their software this year. I'll just try again next month and if that doesn't work, the month after that.
I used them for a small balance transfer a few weeks ago as soon as I get that paid off that card is going in the sock drawer. I use the cards that reward me.
I meant to say "cable bill" but for some reason it wouldn't let me go back and edit it.
exactly! that's what blows my mind! I see people with scores 50 points or lower getting huge CLI and here I am with a 772 TU fico and no lates no baddies....very low untilization and I have only received two 500$ CLI in 1.5 years....I'm not going to lie and say it does tick me off because it does.
