ive been afraid to try and get discover whenever i run the preapproval app it keeps recommending me a secured card my fico scores are 700 for tu and around 660 for the other 2
Everytime i try to run the pre-approval check, it errors out. Not sure if its cuz i already have one but i am not able to check it like i used to be able too.
Checked this morning to make sure I was still preapproved to 3/15 (yes), then selected the 14-month 0% APR on purchases/BT and put in the application. Discover needs proof of residence and SS number; I was able to provide them with my driver's license right away but my Social Security card is at home. They're supposed to email me a link where I can upload the remaining documents, hopefully I can complete the process tonight.
EDIT: Approved for $5K after Discover called me back and verified I'm really me (see details in Credit Card Approvals). Funny thing, in the end they didn't need my SSN after all...
Just received another CLI from Discover. My last increase was September 2017, when I went from my initial starting limit of $9k to $13k. My goal is $20k with this card and then I'm done. I'm more interested in growing my BOA card.
$13k -> $16k
TU 772
Card Utilitization: 0%
Overall Utilization: 0-1% ( I would like to be at 3% but sometimes I forget to let balances report)
My BK13 was EE'd from Transunion in January and due to fall off from EQ and EX in August 2018.
I carried a $1,500 balance with Discover (0% intro) and slowly paid it down in $250 increments so that I could show an overall utilization on my CR since I PIF when I use my cards. I have since grown tired of seeing a balance so I paid off a $750 balance and then I requested an increase about a week later. Also, my promo APR expires in May, so it was time to just pay it off.
I've been using the scorecard site for almost a year for the free fico. My scores went up so I figured I would give the prequalify a try. The last time I tried it offered me the secured card. Yippee ! I got approved for $2500 - my highest limit yet ! Feels good considering I got no love from Navy and Penfed - my former loves. I'm looking forward to my pretty purple card.
Is the best move not to use it much ? I don't need the extra credit but I do want a more grown up profile.
@RemediosI used mine a lot, entire cl in each billing period,so I had to pay mid cycle, but my use did not stop them from giving me a cli.
Quite the opposite. Your usage in this case definitely gave them a great reason to give you a CLI.
