I've seen several people with high balances getting the 4-6k increases but I'm with you, no use in going further in debt just for the sake of cli. If I had the 1k I just put on Disco I'd pay it tomorrow, my mentality is PIF and dont pay interest if I can. Good thing I at least have 0% apr til Aug.
Same here, i would like to get a decent CLI myself. I'm stuck at the just barely over starter limit on that card, and it might be useful if i had something to use lol
I just got a $3300 cli to 14500. Score 770ish I did this by running up a large balance this month of $5K which gets paid in 30 days
I would consider that $4K "experience with current limit". Step 1: charge large amount. Step 2: pay it back. What other kind of "experience is there? lol
Sure, you could leave it there for one billing period. But then you've got that stinking trailing interest to deal with...
I now that I'm probably wearing them out with the 0% BTs though, I always pay it back early. I wonder how long before they totally get tired of it?

Not that I have a really high balance myself on my 2nd Discover, but I've been using it for all grocery purchases since April so I'm considering testing the CLI waters after my next statement cuts (late this month, statement due date is the 20th).
Insufficient experience with current credit limit can be interpreted by us in terms of dollars, but it can also be viewed in terms of time. It could also be a combination of the two.
I can say for sure that it isn't just dollars. With a > $20k limit, I've had spends of $5-$200/mo and received a CLI. No doubt in terms of dollars, several hundred bucks isn't much "experience" with a $20k+ limit.
I personally tend to think the element of time [coupled with profile] is more meaningful than spend when it comes to "experience" with a Discover limit.

Nah, no need to lay off. Until you go 35 weeks in a row requesting a CLI every week and getting 35 insufficient experience denial letters, you haven't requested enough 😉
I have over 35 of them, just spead out over a few months. They could have given me a 100 CLI and saved money by using less paper.

So then, you were actually hitting submitting requests say 3 times per week on average. That is aggressive. But, I like it - persistence. If you got a $100 CLI, though, would you have really been satisfied and stopped making requests? I know I wouldn't have.
My score just updated this morning on my Discover account, so it's the first time they're seeing my 850. I submitted a CLI request and of course got the expected denial, but I am curious to see which of my negative reason statements drop off with my increased score; they still had 4-5 listed for me when my score was at 840.
