I want to try again for a CLI at the end of the month when I hit 91+ days to take advantage of buying gift cards to max points back this month. I don't eat out enough to care about the next quarterly bonus.
Last time, statement cut at 52% and I got bumped $300.
This time I"m at 30%.
If I add an AU to my Disco.
How many days before the hit or AU shows up on my reports? Would Credit Karma create an alert for it?
Disco Scorecard 745 score. 19% utilizaion.
6/25/18: Statement balance $397/1300
94 days since last $300 increase.
2 day manual review notice.
Scheduled payment for Friday for statement balance to look good..intend on cancelling payment and making a bigger one next week. Lol.
UPDATE: CL $1,300
$500 CLI
New CL $1,800
Awesome data points!
Just hit the love button and got another $2500 making my limit 13.5k. Mind you, my limit was less than 500 4 years ago and $1750 not even two years ago.
ficos 770+, total util 6%
Make discover great again!
So, I ended up paying off my balance before my interest kicked in (0% APR for 15 months) and allowed my card to report the zero balance. At this point, I started gravitating my spend over to my PenFed Powercash Card.
Well, no sooner than a few days afterward, I got an automatic increase of 2900 after half a year of denials. Might want to give that ol' tough love a shot! I'm up to 8700 from 1500 when I first opened my card.
Figured I'd mention this: Whenever I get approvals like this, I call the number listed in this thread to double dip. For the first time, I didn't get the regular spiel, but instead someone simply reading the prompt for the online CLI request/love button page. Maybe it's a different number now or... the well's dried up, folks.
Neve: Have you tried lowering the APR? I took the advice about asking for an APR reduction. They said not permanently but they'll give me a 0% APR for another year, was that okay? Uh, yeah!! I mostly PIF but I'll take that!
Interesting. I'm planning to pay off/BT the remaining balance on my older Discover while transferring spending to my newer Discover. Funny thing is, as I reported in Approvals the other week, I got a $300 luv-button CLI on the older card. So yeah, I'm going to let the older card sit for a couple of months once I zero-balance it and see what happens. I'm planning to try to combine it next year with the new card, assuming all the ducks are in a row (particularly an active CLI offer), or if that's a no-go, reallocate as much of the CL on the older card as possible to the newer card.
Its actually pretty easy to get the 0% offer on new purchases.. but there has to be a gap of x number of months (thinking its 3 or 6.. I dont remember honestly now) before you can get a second 0% offer after the current promo runs out, And its an either or thing... Wondering if Discover will entertain an apr reduction in a few months when my 0 runs out..You might be able to get an APR reduction when your 0 runs out but you wouldnt be eligible for a 0% on new purchases for at least a few months...

Interesting. The 0% APR period on my older card ran out in June, so I guess it'd be September at earliest before I could ask for a new 0% period on that card. As I said, since it'll likely be SD'ed until I can combine the two cards or reallocate the CL from the older card, I probably won't bother, but with the newer card, I'll have to make sure to keep that in mind.
Just threaten to cancel the card and you will either get a 0 apr for 12 months or an apr reduction or many things they are near impossible to cancel and do anything to keep a customer... I have tried many times and always get transferred to retentions and every offer under the book is thrown at me except a decent CL..
