Kugel

Your close to where sometimes discover asks for IV...

From what iv been told its usually a simple confirmation call to your employer.....

Not seen anyone have an IRS form type IV with them....

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

I don't think I've seen a 2 day message since 2016.  Since then, 90% of the time it's an instant denial, where the other 10% of the time it's an instant approval.

I wonder what it is that causes the system to initiate a 2 day message.  Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

My theory* is it's the income we input for a CLI. Especially now that they ask about your assets. I'm guessing that the higher earners haven't hit the ceiling for their income so they either they get an immediate yes or no. But if your income may not support a higher limit but let's say your spend, balance, time passed, etc. is ok it gets bumped to an analyst who reviews it by hand. Maybe your income doesn't support it, but your assets do? Low/ high housing costs? They weigh all the factors then you get a yes or no (which is also probably based more on an analyst's interpretation than a computerized decision).
* theory I just came up with 5 minutes ago 😁

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

Not a terrible theory, but my data sort of disproves it.

My income has been the same with Discover since the time I requested my first CLI in 2016 to today.  In 2016 I received a couple of 2 day messages, but never after receiving them early on.  By early on I'm referring to the first 6 months or so of the account being opened.

Based on what I've seen it would suggest to me that 2 day messages come to new(er) Discover accounts... but I know that would be disproved by AJC who I'm sure has been with Discover a few years now and just received a 2 day message.

BBS: First CLI in 2017 with my own income, then $20k CL in I raised it to much higher household. I've never gotten a 2-day message, just a yes or no.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

If its based of income or assets im screwed as i have none lol. Im not upset at my limit. 6k on my income is great. It just fun to figure out Discover ,which will never happen. I already relocked my reports. Ill just keep smashing and shredding. I may eventually try a bt from them to see what happens there but for now I'll just live through you guysSmiley Happy

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

I got a second Discover. After 3 months they allow you to reallocate all or part of your CL between cards if you have a CLI available (or accepted the same day) on the receiving card. Went from $3k to $6k then split my limits to have two cards with $20k+ CL. I wonder if my first card will be back to regular CLI now.
When my cash back match is up, I'd love to combine them and get a "third" card. Nothing beats another year of double rewards!
