Kugel: Yes, you can combine the cards after 3 month when you get a CLI (on the card you're moving it to, from what they told me). Or you can do a partial reallocation.
You get another year of the cashback match too. 😉

just received a nice unexpected end of year surprise in the form of a $700 auto
cli bumping my total SL from $1,950(graduated from $500 secured in june) to $2650.

before CLI I was at 43% util but now down to 31% with CLI.

been trying for the CLI once every 2 weeks over the last 2 months

to throw in data points by report for the month wss updated already and showed 686 TU, 683 EX, 659 EQ

Well I had hit the CLI button the day after my 3rd statement and was approved and accepted $1500 increase. At the same time though, Disco emailed and gave me a $1600 increase, which superceded my request. So I went from 6200 to 7800.

For reference, this is one of 3 CCs that I have. The oldest is only 6 mos.

RIght after I got my CLI increase email I tried to manually hit the love button for a little extra but was denied.

Guess i'll just have to wait to start hitting the button again

Edit: Have most receiving their first cli on the secured card graduated to unsecured?

My progress

$800 SL - January 2018
After 3rd statement, received auto increase to $1000
After 6th statement, I requested an increase and they bumped the limit to $1300
After 9th statement,  received an auto increase to $2200

I requested an increase tonight to see if they would budge outside of the apparent 3 statement pattern.  They offered a $200 increase and I cancelled the request.  I will either try again after this statement closes, or apply for a second Discover card.

Not what I expected I was hoping for a bigger credit line
My first card has a 28K credit line
What are my chances that I will get a credit line increase later if I use the second card and pay it off monthly?

Kugel: the exact same thing happened to me. I've been reading and having a high limit on the first, but a lie SL on the second. I ended up splitting the CLs. I don't think it limits growth on either card though, other than the unpredictable CLI they already give. My second doubled 3 months in.
I decided just to spend on whatever card gives the best cash back rate. Getting the most out of the match! 🙂
