Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

Sabii Can I ask you what is your limits on both cards?
I will use the match cash back Which is good for the categories that gives 5% cashback And it doubles by the end of the year to 10%
for me it’s useless the 1% even if it doubles to 2% by the end of the year since I do have a flagship navy federal card that gives me 2% Always

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

If you apply for a second card, will Disco let you bring over some of your CL from your first card? I want a second one but for my income, I’m probably pretty close to max exposure with Disco. My one year is up in March and I was thinking about going for a second Disco IT in 4Q (time it so that it falls on Amazon category and it lines up with my BBVA intro coming to an end) but I would definitely need to bring some of my current card over to the new one.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

Kugel: about $20k each.
I agree. When my year is up on my second card I'm going to combine it into my first and go for a 3rd/ 2nd It card. Other cards have a better permanent cash back rate but until they put limits on the cash back match it remains a good deal imo. Once that's over, the card is really not that attractive (other than the 5% categories), especially now that they've removed a lot of member benefits. The reoccurring 0% APR can be helpful sometimes though.

Saeren: You can combine the cards after 3 month when/if you get a CLI (on the card you're moving it to, the CS told me). Or you can do a partial reallocation. I wouldn't be surprised if you've got room for growth. Discover can get very close to some people's annual income in their CL.

Re: Discover unOfficial Data Points

My Discover card turns 1 on 1/12. I'm showing prequals for all of their cards at 23.24% (ouch). 0% for 14 months helps some. When I check for a CLI, it still wants to give me only $200 (I declined it). My current Discover card sits at $2200.

Based on the high APR for the second card and small CLI on the first card, am I relegated to a small SL on the second card if approved? Anybody get approved with a lower APR than what the prequal showed? By small, I mean a SL under 5k.

Prestige4, you would have a better shot at a higher sl than Kugel on your second card. Someone that has a 28k card shouldnt expect a high sl on the second card and we saw exactly what we predicted. My first started at $2500. My second card, after closing first, my sl was $5000. Just no way to tell

Thank you Sabii. Disco has given me $10,500 on $18K so I definitely would end up with a lopsided limit. I want to avoid having a new card that’s less than $5K. Somehow I doubt that Disco will be as generous with me as the $15,200 NFCU has extended me but I guess we will see when I get there. I just went on a bit of a spree last year so I ended up having spend for other card SUBs that kept me from maxing out my Disco earnings.

I guess I will wait and see, I don’t have any big expenses coming up that the 0% would be nice for and maxing out the match would take some creative spending. Probably best to just age everything so I can get something lower than the 21.24% the card was in March (so it’s probably 22-22.24% now) anyway. Thanks for the info! Smiley Happy
